Eslami Catches Sjavik

Ali Eslami, fresh off his cash in the $10,000 mixed event is setting his sights on the final table in this event.

After being reraised by Jan Sjavik preflop, Eslami called and the flop came {4-Spades}{J-Hearts}{5-Spades}. Eslami checked and Sjavik took a stab at the pot betting his last 1,500 in chips. Eslami made the call and the hands were turned. Eslami had {J-Spades}{K-Diamonds} and Sjavik {Q-Hearts}{7-Clubs}.

At this point Eslami just needed to avoid a queen, seven, or running straight cards. The turn was the {3-Diamonds} and the river the {A-Diamonds} giving Eslami's pair of jacks the pot and knocking Sjavik out of the tournament.

Eslami has 118,500 in chips

No Guardian Angel

A short-stacked Angel Navarro got the rest of his chips in preflop against Joseph Sanders. Angel was holding {A-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} and it was in trouble against the {A-Spades} {J-Spades} of Joseph. The board ran...

{8-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} {J-Diamonds}

A pair of jacks was good for the pot and enough to eliminate Angel.

Taylor Fills Up

Brendan Taylor
Brendan Taylor
Brendan Taylor looked down at {A-Hearts}{4-Spades} and raised to the small blind, Canh Phan all in preflop. Phan turned over {K-Hearts}{9-Clubs}.

The flop showed {4-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and put Taylor in control. The turn yielded the {4-Clubs} giving Taylor trips and Phan was drawing dead. The river was the {J-Diamonds} and Taylor added insult to injury as he sent Phan packing.

Taylor has 76,000 in chips.

Quads Should Do It

We had a pre flop all in encounter between Jimmy Shultz and Zelong Dong. It was a cooler as Jimmy had {A-?} {A-?} to Zelong's {K-?} {K-?}. Zelong would need a king to stay alive but when the flop contained two aces he was dead as a Dodo in this tournament.

Frutkin Forges Ahead

John Frutkin continues to build his stack by eliminating other players. In this case Frutkin got involved in a hand with Ivan Schertzer. The board showed {6-Spades}{8-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and holding {J-Spades}{K-Spades} Schertzer moved all in. Frutkin made the call and tabled {9-Clubs}{7-Hearts}. The turn brought the {8-Spades} and the river the {8-Diamonds} giving Frutkin a full house and sending Schertzer packing.

Frutkin is up to 49,000.

Chicken Dinner

Zac Fellows makes a raise from early position and sees all fold except Vinny Vinh in the big blind. The flop comes down...

{Q-Clubs} {9-Hearts} {7-Hearts}

Zac continues his aggression with a 2,000 bet that Vinnie doubles to 4,000. Zac calls so the turn is dealt...

{Q-Hearts}

Zac check calls a 4,000 bet from Vinny before the river...

{K-Clubs}

Once again Zac check-calls a 4,000 bet from Vinny who flips over {A-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} for trip queens.

Zac says it's good but takes a while to muck his hand. "It's good?'" asks Vinny. "Looks like I'll be eating chicken dinner tonight!"

Sjavik is at it Again

Jan Sjavik has claimed another victim. This time his weapon was the {4-Diamonds}. Jason Forry got his chips in with the best hand and the board read {5-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{K-Spades}. Forry was holding {K-Clubs}{10-Clubs}, top pair with the back door flush draw and Sjavik {K-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}.

The turn proved to be fatal for Forry when the {4-Diamonds} spiked the turn and Sjavik made two pair. The river blanked off the {6-Spades} and Forry was eliminated.
