Williams Falling

David Williams
David Williams
David Williams is going in the wrong direction. After chipping up to around 75,000, he has lost two big pots in short order. Here is how the latest one went down.

Williams opens with a raise from the button. Both blinds call, including William Sheppard. The flop comes out {2-Spades} {7-Clubs} {2-Clubs}. It is checked around to the raiser, and Williams obliges by putting out a bet. Sheppard check-raises, the big blind ducks out, and Williams calls.

The turn is the {6-Hearts}. Sheppard bets, Williams calls.

The river brings the {4-Clubs}. Again, Sheppard bets, and Williams calls, showing down {3-?} {4-?} {K-?} {K-?}. He is bested by Sheppard, who holds {2-Diamonds} {9-Spades} {A-Spades} {A-Clubs}, scooping the pot, and knocking Williams down to 47,000. Sheppard has leapfrogged over him, and now sits on 57,000 chips.

"Miami" John Survives

We pick up the action on the flop. The board shows {10-Hearts} {4-Clubs} {Q-Clubs}. Eric Pratt checks, and Larry Wright bets. "Miami" John Cernuto puts in a raise, and both opponents call. For Wright, it costs him all his remaining chips to continue, and he is at risk going to the turn.

It comes {4-Hearts}. Pratt checks, and this time it's Cernuto who is all in with a bet. Pratt calls. The river is the {10-Clubs}, and the cards are turned over:

Cernuto: {5-Hearts} {A-Spades} {10-Diamonds} {Q-Spades}
Pratt: {4-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} {6-Clubs} {7-Spades}
Wright: {A-Clubs} {3-Clubs} {2-Clubs} {Q-Hearts}.

John Cernuto takes down the full pot with his full house, tens full of queens. The loss sends Pratt reeling down to 16,000, and elminates Larry Wright. Cernuto, meanwhile, is back up to 20,000.

The Master Cooks Rice

Before the flop, Men "The Master" Nguyen and Jacob Rice got entangled in a raising war. The pot was capped, leaving Rice with just 600 chips in front of him. They went in as the dealer dealt the flop, and Nguyen called dark.

The board ran out {8-Hearts} {2-Spades} {K-Hearts} {9-Spades} {Q-Spades}.

Men Nguyen shows {A-Hearts} {J-Hearts} {10-Clubs} {5-Clubs}.

Jacob Rice tables {A-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} {9-Hearts}, and cannot take either half of the pot, sending him out of here shortly before dinner.

Another Scoop for Fricke

Allen Enciso limps into the pot, as does the button and both blinds, including Jimmy Fricke in the big blind. The four men go to the flop.

It comes down {9-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {10-Spades}, and the betting is checked around.

The turn is the {9-Spades}. The small blind checks, Fricke raises, and Enciso is the only one who makes the call to see one more card.

That card, the river, is the {8-Clubs}. Fricke bets out, Enciso raises, and Fricke makes the call. He tables {2-Spades} {3-Hearts} {J-Hearts} {7-Clubs}, and scoops the pot with his straight on the river.

Greenstein/Demidov Chop

We pick up this hand with the turn card coming down. The board shows {8-Hearts} {A-Hearts} {8-Spades} {A-Spades}. Barry Greenstein and Ivan Demidov get all their chips into the middle, and the river card, {3-Spades}, is action-less. The hands are turned over:

Greenstein: {A-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} {4-Hearts} {6-Diamonds}
Demidov: {A-Clubs} {2-Spades} {9-Spades} {9-Hearts}

The two men chop the pot, and make no advances up the scoreboard.
