Clements Upsets Best Lade Plans

Scott Clements
Scott Clements
Before the break, a hand came in which Scott Clements raised to 2,800 from early position, then Steve Lade reraised to 11,000. Clements repopped it to 20,000. This suited Lade just fine, as he then pushed it up to 47,000, enough to put Clements all in.

Clements called immediately, showing {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}, far ahead of Lade's {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}. Clements' hand held up, and he now has 90,000. Lade is still doing fine with 290,000.

Whoops

After a {Q-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} {9-Spades} flop Cornel Pazai's opponent made a huge overbet and moved in for around 85,000 with {A-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds}. His move was ill-timed--Pazai had flopped the nuts with {K-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} , the board ran out {6-Clubs} {Q-Clubs}, and Pazai zoomed all the way to 270,000.

Kattamuri Knocks Out Kowssarie

Some time ago, we reported a hand in which Mohamad Kowssarie hit a one-outer to make a straight flush and eliminate an opponent. He remained quite active following that hand, and hit a rough patch where he lost several pots in a row. He'd slipped down to about 200,000, when the following hand took place.

Raja Kattamuri raised to 3,500 from the cutoff, and Kowssarie reraised to 10,000 from the small blind. Kattamuri called.

The flop came {4-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}. Kowssarie bet 17,000, Kattamuri raised to 50,000, Kowssarie pushed all in for 180,000, and Kattamuri, who barely had Kowssarie covered, made the call.

Kowssarie showed {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}, and Kattamuri showed {K-Clubs}{K-Spades}. Suddenly, after being among the chip leaders during most of the level, Kowssarie was in rough shape.

The turn was the {5-Hearts} and the river the {5-Spades}, and just like that Kowssarie is out.

Kattamuri now sits at the top of the leaderboard with 410,000.

Connor Terminates Vicary

Joe Connor moved all in preflop with a short stack, and he was called only by Paul Vicary, who had a still-shorter stack. Connor held {A-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds} and was in good shape against Vicary's {A-Hearts} {10-Hearts}.

Trouble found Connor on the flop, despite finding top pair. It came out {8-Clubs} {10-Spades} {A-Spades}, making two pair for his opponent. The turn was the {7-Clubs}, and Connor needed to find one of the three remaining kings in the deck. Lo and behold, the {K-Clubs} ripped off on the river, improving him to the winning top two pair. Vicary was the one at risk of elimination, and now he finds himself on the outside looking in.

Top and Bottom for Herder

Michael Herder led out for 2,200 preflop and was called by a player in the big blind. The flop fell {A-Hearts} {6-Clubs} {8-Clubs} and Herder fired 3,000 into the pot after his opponent checked. His opponent check-raised to 8,500 and Herder called. The turn was the {7-Diamonds} and his opponent led out for 13,000. Herder called again and saw the {2-Diamonds} on the river.

Herder's opponent led out for 12,000 and Herder called, turning over {A-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} for two pair. His opponent showed {A-Clubs} {K-Clubs} and Herder took it down. After the hand, Herder is up to 205,000.

David Sklansky Eliminated

Sklansky Eliminated
Sklansky Eliminated
On a flop of {7-Clubs} {8-Hearts} {5-Hearts}, David Sklansky moved all in against a player in the cutoff and the player called. Sklansky held {J-Hearts} {10-Hearts} for a gutshot straight draw and a flush draw. His opponent held {A-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} for the nut flush draw. A {K-Diamonds} fell on the turn and the river {3-Clubs} ended Sklansky's main event.

Aaron Kanter Eliminated

We missed the hand, but we do know that Aaron Kanter was all in with top pair and a draw against a player's pocket kings. The kings held up and Kanter was sent to the rail.
