Binger Calls the Clock... On Himself

Floor!
Floor!
Archie Karas was all in for 15,900 before the draw and Michael Binger made the call. Karas rapped pat, and Binger went into the tank, trying to decide whether or not to draw. After nine minutes had ticked off the tournament clock, we heard the dealer bellow.

"Floor on 78!"

Binger had called the clock on himself and as his one minute ticked down, he finally settled on drawing one card.

The hands were turned up and it was Cooler City-- Karas had the wheel with 7-5-4-3-2, while Binger made number two with 7-6-4-3-2.

Karas doubled to 36,000 while Binger was left with about 90,000.

Bjorin and Raymer Out; Four Tables Left

The tournament has collapsed to four tables with the recent eliminations of Chris Bjorin and Greg Raymer. Bjorin's all-in raise of 18,100 before the draw was called by Mark Weitzman. Each player drew one card with almost identical hands: 8-6-5-2 for Weitzman, 8-7-3-2 for Bjorin. When Weitzman drew a king, all Bjorin had to do was not draw a king or a pair card. He couldn't do it; he drew another 3 and is out of the tournament.

We didn't see the action at Raymer's table. All we can tell you is that Anton Allemann showed down 8-6-5-4-3 to end Raymer's day.

Binger Still Running Good

Michael Binger's agent has been on the rail for the last two days, sweating his client's progress. So far, so good for Binger. Sitting in the big blind, he called a raise to 5,200 from Tim Phan that was also called by small blind Archie Karas.

The action on the draw was two, one, two for Karas, Binger and Phan, respectively. After the draw, Karas checked to Binger, who fired 18,000 into the pot. Only Phan called, and he mucked after Binger showed down 8-6-5-4-3.

Appleman Busto

No Horseshoe jacket for Appleman.
No Horseshoe jacket for Appleman.
In the end, Mickey Appleman's sartorial selections didn't help him in this tournament. He wound up short-stacked and all in over raises to 6,000 from Dan Harmentz and 17,000 from Ville Wahlbeck. Harmentz folded, but it was only 1,500 back to Wahlbeck, who called.

Appleman drew one card; Wahlbeck rapped pat with jack-seven. Appleman opened 8-7-5-3 but drew a queen. He's out, and Wahlbeck is up to 145,000.

Wilkinson Survives

Lamar Wilkinson survived an all-in confrontation against Mickey Appleman. Wilkinson was the first aggressor from the small blind, raising to 7,000. Appleman, sitting in the big blind, re-raised to 14,000. Wilkinson moved in for 3,000 more and Appleman called.

Both players drew one car. Wilkinson opened 9-8-6-4 and squeezed out a trey for a hand of 9-8. Appleman opened a very live hand, 8-7-6-2, but squeezed out an ace to give Wilkinson the pot and the double-up to about 38,000.

A Hit for Juanda

David Benyamine, from Day 1 action
David Benyamine, from Day 1 action
Two of the bigger stacks in the tournament belong to John Juanda and David Benyamine. The two men are sitting next to each other at Table 76 and just played a big pot.

After Bryan Colin opened from early position to 4,500, Juanda made it 14,500 to go. Benyamine called from the button, folding everyone else in the hand including Colin.

Juanda was pat on the draw, prompting Benyamine to draw one. Juanda then checked to Benyamine, who bet 18,000. Juanda called to see Benyamine turn over 9-8-6-3-2; Juanda claimed a worse 9-8 and mucked.

Benyamine now has 160,000 to Juanda's 110,000.

Kenny Tran Eliminated

9-7 no good? So sick!
9-7 no good? So sick!
Eliyahu Levy opened for 4,300 from early position, Jason Gray called, and Justin "BoostedJ" Smith came in with a reraise to 20,600 from the button. Kenny Tran moved all in from the big blind for 23,100 and both Levy and Gray folded. Smith drew one card while Tran rapped pat.

Tran's 9-7-5-4-2 couldn't beat Smith's 8-6-5-3-2 and he hit the rail. With that pot, Smith's stack is up to 140,000.

Mark Weitzman Doubles Through John Juanda

Mark Weitzman opened for 5,500, John Juanda slid out a tall stack of pink 5,000-denomination chips totaling about 100,000, and Weitmzan called all in for 40,000. Both players stood pat.

Juanda turned up T-8-5-4-2 but Weitzman had him with 8-7-6-5-3. Weitzman doubled to 90,000 while Juanda slipped to 140,000.
