DeGeorge Wins Huge Race

In a huge preflop clash, Joe DeGeorge and Peter Cross committed their chips into the pot and found themselves in the classic race of pair versus overcards.

Cross was in the lead with his {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} but it didn't end that way as DeGeorge's {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades} improved on the board of {9-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{6-Hearts} to collect the pot with close to 300,000. After the hand Cross was left with 40,000.

Kalb Doubles through Cantu

Brandon Cantu opened with a raise from the button and made a pot-committed call when Jacob Kalb moved all in for 20,500 from the big blind.

Cantu tabled {9-Spades}{7-Clubs} hoping for live cards but found himself dominated by the {K-Clubs}{9-Clubs} of Kalb.

The board was spread {8-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{3-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} and Kalb doubles through to 42,000 leaving Cantu still in good shape with 110,000.

Break

The players are now racing off the black 100-denomination chips before going on a scheduled 20-minute break.

Salinaro Joins Leaders

Mark Salinaro is now in a commanding position after getting his chips into the middle with pocket aces against an opponent's pocket kings.

Salinaro avoided a king on the board and is now in strong shape with 260,000 chips.

Shaun Deeb Loses it All in Two Hands

We caught Shaun Deeb in the middle of a hand with Michael Pesek. On a flop of {10-Hearts}{8-Spades}{6-Clubs}, Pesek check-raised Deeb's 11,000 bet to 31,600. Deeb reraised all in and Pesek made the quick call showing {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts} while Deeb turned over a semi-bluff with {7-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}. The {10-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} didn't help Deeb's cause, and his stack fell to just 14,000.

On the next hand, Deeb got his remaining chips in preflop with {A-Hearts}{J-Clubs} and found himself ahead of the {A-Clubs}{10-Clubs} of Rod Fani.

A flop of {A-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} was good news for Deeb, but the {10-Hearts} on the turn was not. When the {5-Spades} hit the river, Deeb headed for the rail.

Qui Nguyen Loses Some Chips

Qui Nguyen made it 9,000 to go from early position only to have Travis Remmert raise all in for 41,600 from the cutoff. Nguyen made the call only to find that his {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} was behind Remmert's {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}.

Remmert pulled further ahead on the flop of {K-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{8-Hearts} and sealed the hand by turning the full house with the {8-Spades} on the turn. A meaningless {2-Diamonds} fell on the river, and Remmert doubled his stack to 88,000. Nguyen still sits with a very healthy 215,000.

Naujoks Continues To Accumulate

Sandra Naujoks open-limped into the pot from the cutoff and the blinds came along to see a three-way flop of {4-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}.

The blinds checked to Naujoks who tossed out 6,000 before the player in the small blind made it 15,000 to go. The big blind folded and Naujoks deliberated quietly before announcing she was all in.

It was an additional 32,000 to the player in the small blind who was pained by the decision, eventually releasing his hand, as Naujoks scoops the pot to move up to around 75,000 chips.
