Levine Likes the Turn

Peter Levine was all in pre-flop for a total of about 25,000 chips. Ben Grundy got in there with him. The two players had virtually identical hands: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{2-Spades}{2-Diamonds} for Grundy, {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{2-Hearts} for Levine. That's why Grundy didn't want to hit his kicker after an all-Broadway flop of {j-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{10-Clubs}. Yet hit it he did, when the turn came {k-Diamonds} to give Grundy two pair and Levine a straight. Grundy had outs to a full house on the river, but the {5-Spades} was not one of them.

Grundy is down to 78,000 after doubling Levine up to 56,000.

Hellmuth Busts Cano

On the flop of {10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}, Phil Hellmuth checked to Leno Cano. He fired 4,000 and then Hellmuth raised the pot. The player moved all in and Hellmuth was right there to make the call holding the {9-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{4-Spades}{2-Hearts} for middle set. Cano held the {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} for a low draw and a straight draw.

The turn paired the board with the {10-Hearts} to lock Hellmuth up the high and then the river landed with the {J-Diamonds} to allow him to scoop the entire pot as Cano couldn't make a low.

Cano busted at the hands of Hellmuth, who increased his stack to 116,000 chips.

Sopko Tanks

Michael Sopko raised to 9,000 and then Stephen Willis reraised the pot to 28,500, having 4,200 behind. Once the amount of the raise was verified Sopko said, "Give me a second, OK." He then tanked for a little bit.

"You got aces?" asked Sopko.

"I got something!" Willis immediately replied.

"If you have aces, I'm a big underdog," said Sopko before tanking for a bit longer.

Eventually he gave his hand up saying, "You know what, if I'm thinking this long just take it. Sorry guys."

Sopko dropped to 128,000 in chips and WIllis moved up over 40,000.

Danheiser Leaves With Some Choice Words

David Danheiser got his chips in bad against Amanda Thomas and didn't get there. His {a-Spades}{9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} was behind Thomas' {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{k-Spades}{6-Diamonds} every step of the way on a board of {6-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}, with Thomas making aces and sixes to drag the pot. That didn't stop Danheiser from lobbing a few barbs before departing.

"I haven't won in 80 years," he said. "I lose to a little girl."

We doubt Danheiser will find much sympathy at the cage, where he'll collect $4,448. Thomas, meanwhile, remains in the tournament (with Danheiser's chips), stacked at 183,000.

Another Double for Guth

Checking back in on John Guth, we witnessed him jamming all of his chips into the middle with Alexander Dovzhenko making the call. Guth was all in for 30,100 and held the {A-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}. Dovzhenko held the {A-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{5-Spades}{3-Clubs}.

The board ran out {J-Hearts}{9-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} and Guth made a diamond flush to scoop the pot and double up to over 60,000 in chips. Dovzhenko was left with 49,000.
