Players Busting, Tables Breaking

Players are being eliminated at a high clip once again today, with tables breaking quickly from all corners of the Pavilion Room. It appears as though we have already lost more than half of the 1,500-plus players who began Day 1b.

Payout information is still being compiled and should be available shortly. The big board currently shows 3,862 to be the total number of entrants, though that number isn't necessarily going to be the final total. We'll pass along the official count soon.

Saout Chops Broadway

On a board reading {10-Spades}{J-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{K-Spades} Antoine Saout was faced with a 300-chip bet.

His decision was one of raising; thus making it 1,500 to go. His opponent made the call as the {Q-Clubs} landed on the river and both players checked it through.

Saout tabled his {A-Hearts}{J-Clubs} and his opponent his {A-Clubs}{10-Hearts} to see the pot chopped up.

Saout is now up to 4,100 in chips.

Monnette Out

John Monnette has been eliminated.

He was short-stacked and all-in versus three other players. The final board showed {K-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}, and when two of his opponents showed {7-}{7-} and {K-}{Q-}, he mucked and made his way out of the Pavilion room.

Bronshtein Gets Bluffy

We came on this hand following a {7-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{Q-Spades} flop. With a pot already having been built before the flop, a player had 1,300 sitting in front of him, and Yuval Bronshtein had 3,500 in front of him. Bronshtein's opponent contemplated the situation for some time, then let his hand go.

Bronshtein flipped over his hand -- {6-Hearts}{4-Hearts} -- then collected the chips. He's up to 11,000 now.

Natural Eight No Good Here Phil!

"Oh whoops! I thought we were playing Baccarat!"
"Oh whoops! I thought we were playing Baccarat!"

Five limpers saw a {7-}{8-}{3-} flop fall down with Phil Ivey leading out for 400 from the small blind.

It folded round to the player on the button and he moved all in to put Ivey at risk. Ivey made the call tabling his {J-}{8-} to be well behind his opponent's set of threes.

The turn and river blanked out and Ivey was forced out early courtesy of an opponent's set of treys!

Brown Busto

"You think I can beat your set?"
"You think I can beat your set?"

Three players - including Chad Brown - put in 325 preflop to see a {10-}{9-}{6-} flop fall.

Following a check and then a bet of 450, Brown moved all in for roughly 2,400 and found a call from the player that committed chips on the flop already.

Brown: {Q-Spades}{J-Spades}
Opponent: {6-}{6-}

The turn and river ran out running aces to see Brown eliminated from the tournament.

Not Cool Says Iceman

"Don't do that man . . . That's not cool man . . . Counting my chips now dude!" uttered Teddy 'The Iceman' Monroe in his slow drawn out way of speaking.

As our PokerNews reporter stood there eyeing his stack, he could find a smile before walking away.

For the record, Monroe would like us not to tell you following along at home that he has 1,925 in chips.
