How Did Metaal Bust After That Flop?

Govert Metaal saw almost the perfect flop for his hand without hitting, but bricked out.

He was short and open shoved for around 12,000 from under the gun. Jennifer Tilly was on the button and successfully reraised to isolate.

Tilly: {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}
Metaal: {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}

The board ran {k-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{4-Spades}{8-Diamonds}.

That's what you call a sweat!

Aguiar On Fire; Eliminates Park

We just witnessed Jonathan Aguiar deliver another knockout blow to a player. Brian Park moved all in before the flop only to have Aguiar move all in over the top. The rest of the table folded and the hands were exposed:

Aguiar: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}
Park: {5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}

The board came down {7-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{Q-Spades} and Park was unable to improve, securing him a spot among those eliminated from this tournament. Aguiar is now sitting at roughly 112,000 in chips.

Table of Death

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

As another table has just broken, Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi has been moved to the table that is currently sporting the biggest stacks in the room. Mizrachi has joined Jennifer Tilly, Jonathan Aguiar, Brandon Cantu, and Chance Kornuth and we're sure some excitement will be brewing at this table soon.

Aguiar Molten; Doubles through Mizrachi

There is no stopping Jonathan Aguiar right now, not even Michael Mizrachi.

The latter called the formers raise whilst in the big blind and then check-called two streets before check-raising all in on the river. The final board read {2-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and Aguiar called all-in for 89,900 on the river.

He tabled pocket sevens for a full house and Mizrachi mucked whilst saying, "I thought I was trapping!"

Two Black Nines

Phil Hellmuth opened with a raise only to have Ashton Griffin three-bet all in for a little over 20,000. Action was back on Hellmuth and he looked at his cards again and called.

Griffin showed {6-Clubs}{6-Hearts} and Hellmuth rolled over the very hand that he famously won the World Series of Poker Main Event with - {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}.

The board fell down {4-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{j-Hearts} and Hellmuth was able to score the knockout. He's currently sitting at 165,000 while Griffin's tournament is officially over.

Andrulis Gifted Chips

Kristijonas Andrulis has doubled up after he was gifted the stack of Ricardo Alves de Lima Tavares.

Faraz Jaka opened to 2,700 before Andrulis three-bet to 6,800 from the button. Tavares called from the big blind and Jaka came along for the ride too.

The flop fell {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} and Andrulis' 7,500 c-bet was check-raised up to 15,000 by the Brazilian (Jaka folded). Call.

The turn came {3-Diamonds} and Tavares checked to face a 18,000 bet that he treated to a snap shove. Adrulis gave a little shrug and called with {j-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for a flush.

"Arghhhh!" shouted Tavares who opened {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}. The river came {5-Diamonds} and Tavares was confirmed out after a count down.

Rettenmaier Eliminates Thorel

On a flop of {6-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{J-Clubs}, Jean Noel Thorel bet 6,000 only to have Marvin Rettenmaier make it 14,600. Faraz Jaka folded his hand and Thorel called.

The turn was the {9-Clubs}, bringing three clubs on the board. Thorel kept firing, however, and bet 25,000. Rettenmaier moved all in and Thorel snap called.

Thorel: {8-Clubs}{7-Clubs}
Rettenmaier: {A-Clubs}{5-Clubs}

Both players turned a flush, but unfortunately for Thorel, Rettenmaier's was the nuts. The {K-Clubs} came on the river and Rettenmair was able to score the knockout.

Easy Come, Easy Go

Kristijonas Andrulis held on to those new-found chips for precisely one hand.

He three bet a Faraz Jaka open again and was called en route to a {6-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop. Andrulis fired 5,500 there, 12,700 on the {8-Clubs} turn, and 10,600 on the {q-Clubs} river.

Jaka check-called all the way to the river where he check-raised all in for 66,000. Andrulis called and mucked upon seeing his opponent's pocket deuces for a flopped set.
