Tran Busts Cajelais and Barnes in Huge Early Pot

There was a loud commotion over on Table 3, and several players were standing around the table. Jean-Robert Bellande was seated at an adjacent table, but stood up to see what was going on. He then yelled out that there was a big three-way all in.

"It's nuts, nuts and a flush draw," Bellande said to his table. "Two guys have the nuts and one has top pair and a flush draw... with one to come."

When our reporter arrived at the table after the loud stir, a board of {8-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{7-Clubs} was in the middle, and three hands were face up on the felt. Henry Tran held the {A-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and was the player with top pair and a flush draw. Erik Cajelais held the {6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} for a turned nut straight, and Brandon Barnes held the {6-Spades}{5-Hearts} for also the turned nut straight.

"Club!" yelled Tran as the dealer went to deal the final card.

The river was the {5-Clubs} and Tran had smacked his flush. Cajelais was not happy at all, and he got up from his chair and quickly stormed out of the room. Barnes left more quietly, but also still not happy. Tran had them both covered and has catapulted to over 90,000 in chips here in the closing minutes of the first level.

"I Keep Value-Betting and Losing"

With approximately 10,000 in the pot and a board reading {6-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}, an unknown player checked to Thomas Wahlroos and he fired out 7,700. His opponent thought for about 20 seconds before putting in a call, and Wahlroos confidently rolled over {6-Spades}{6-Clubs}.

His opponent then visibly breathed a sigh of relief and flipped up {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} for a bigger flopped set. "I keep value betting and losing," Wahlroos said with a hint of frustration in his voice.

Early One for Baker

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

David "ODB" Baker was faced with a bet of 950 on the {10-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{3-Clubs} board. He made the call to see the {K-Spades} land on the river. The first player checked, then Baker checked behind.

Baker tabled the {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for a pair of tens and beat his opponent's {9-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} to scoop the pot.

The Overbet Works for Alvarado

JC Alvarado raised to 300 and found calls from Sean Jazayeri and one other player. The flop came down {K-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{6-Spades}, and Alvarado checked. Jazayeri also checked before the third player fired 650. Only Alvarado made the call.

The turn brought the {5-Hearts}, and Alvarado checked. His opponent also checked. The dealer then completed the board on the river with the {2-Clubs}. Alvarado fired 5,200 — a bet over three times the size of the pot. His opponent tanked, then called.

Alvarado showed the {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} for second pair, and his opponent mucked.

Bonomo Wins Without a Showdown

We happened upon the action with 5,100 in the pot and a board reading {4-Spades}{8-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}. An elderly gentleman in middle position had bet 1,525 and was immediately met with a raise to 5,525 from Justin Bonomo. The original raiser gave it some thought, but ultimately tossed his hand to the muck.

Bonomo is off to a good start already adding 5,000 to his starting stack.
