Event #7: €10,450 No-Limit Hold'em Main Event

Day 2 Started

Mizrachi Leads Into Day 2; 230 Remain

Michael Mizrachi
Michael Mizrachi

Welcome back to the 2012 World Series of Poker Europe Main Event. Today is Day 2, and there are 230 players returning to action from the original 420 that entered. Sitting at the top of the leader board — and the only player with over 200,000 in chips — is three-time WSOP gold bracelet winner Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi.

The top 10 is cluttered with several notables including Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, JC Alvarado, Roberto Romanello, Daniel Weinman, Daniel Negreanu and Timothy Adams. All of them had very successful Day 1s and will be looking to continue their onslaught on Day 2.

Another six 90-minute levels are scheduled for play today, which means there's plenty of time for people to hit the rail while others accumulate chips. Unfortunately, the money bubble won't break today, so that excitement will be left for down the road. Still, you won't want to miss anything that's going to happen today.

Play kicks off at 12:00 PM local time, so stay tuned right here to PokerNews for the live coverage coming to you shortly.

Kurganov's Queens Crushed

German high roller Igor Kurganov was just eliminated when Patrick Sacrispeyre beat his pocket queens. Kurganov was standing on the rail when he explained to us what happened.

The winner of the EPT Monte Carlo €25,000 High Roller for just over a million raised under the gun and three players called. The flop came down {5-}{7-}{8-} with two clubs and one spade. The action was checked to Sacrispeyre who bet 2,600 and only Kurganov called.

On the turn a {10-} hit and Kurganov checked again. Scarispeyre bet 7,200 and Kurganov decided to move all in for right around 14,000. The Frenchman called with {10-}{8-}, and the river brought a {4-} to end Kurganov's tournament.

The €50,000 rebuy tournament that commences tomorrow will also feature quite some German players as Kurganov told us he, Philipp Gruissem, Marvin Rettenmaier, Tobias Reinkemeier and Fabian Quoss are likely to play.

Mizrachi a Little Late

Level 7 : 300/600, 75 ante

With a mountain of chips worth 234,850 there is no reason to be in a hurry today. Michael Mizrachi took a laid back approach, and just strolled into the Majestic 1 tournament room. He's was almost 30 minutes late, but still has the chip lead.

Tough Table 10

Over at Table 10, David "ODB" Baker opened for 1,200 and received calls from Steve O'Dwyer and Jean-Robert Bellande on the button and small blind respectively. The {3-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{7-Spades} flop saw Bellande immediately fire out 3,000, just O'Dwyer call, and the dealer burn and turn the {Q-Spades}.

The former Survivor contestant didn't slow down and bet 8,000, which proved enough to get the job done as O'Dwyer sent his cards to the muck. It's also worth noting that two-time WSOP bracelet winner Andy Frankenberger is seat at Table 10.

Berg Puts Boyaciyan All In

On the {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{6-Spades} flop, Eli Berg checked first to act. Chris Moore bet 1,600, and David Boyaciyan made the call. Berg check-raised to 5,800, and Moore folded. Boyaciyan called.

The turn was the {7-Clubs}, and Boyaciyan had just over 20,000 behind. Moore fired 35,000 to put him all in, but Boyaciyan quickly folded.
