Ho Gets Respect

Level 4 : 200/400, 50 ante

Maria Ho had 7,000 in front of her and the small blind called that bet. Patrik Antonius was debating whether to continue on the {q-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} flop with 2,100 in front of him. He folded.

The turn was the {k-Diamonds} and the small blind checked. Ho bet 7,200 and the small blind folded showing a queen before he mucked.

From One Tournament to the Next

Level 4 : 200/400, 50 ante

Kenny Hallaert and Martin Kabrhel started today in the €111,111 One Drop with ten left. They are both now taking their seats in Day 1b of the Main Event.

Hallaert entered the day as the short stack and finished in tenth place for €295,131. This was the highest buy in tournament of Hallaert's career and he now steps into his wheelhouse — large field No-Limit Hold'em tournaments. He has two six-figure live scores since he finished sixth in the WSOP Main Event and has earned over $500,000 of his $3,310,209 in live tournament earnings in a little more than a year since.

Kabrhel just finished eighth in the One Drop for €366,762 and won his first WSOP gold bracelet during this WSOP Europe. He won the € 1,100 No Limit Hold'em - Super Turbo Bounty for € 53,557. Kabrhel is notorious for table talk and tanking, so it will be interesting to see how his table reacts to him throughout the day.

Confused Kempe Finally Calls

Level 3 : 150/300, 25 ante
Rainer Kempe, pictured in an earlier event.
Rainer Kempe, pictured in an earlier event.

Rainer Kempe bet 4,400, an underbet in a pot of about 20,000, with {9-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{2-Spades}{2-Hearts} on the board. He was in the big blind and his small blind opponent said something to him and then called. The river was a {7-Diamonds}. Kempe's opponent came to like with a 12,000 lead. Kempe took a deep breath and ran a hand through his hair. He went into the tank for a couple of minutes, shaking his head and pointing at the board a few times as he worked through the possibilities. Finally, he called but seemed ready to muck.

Indeed, his cards went into the muck upon {q-}{q-} being turned over.
