Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Bartosz Szafraniec

Tariq Ullah raised to 3,000 from the button and Bartosz Szafraniec called from the small blind.

The flop was {4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{9-Spades} and Szafraniec checked and his opponent bet 4,800. The Pole then re-raised to 12,000 and Ullah then moved enough chips forward to put his opponent all in.

Szafraniec had around 45,000, and thought carefully about his decision. He eventually called and showed {q-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} for top pair, and Ullah showed {10-Spades}{5-Spades} for ten-high. The turn was the {7-Hearts} and the river the {a-Diamonds} meaning Szafraniec doubled up.

Patrick Sarca Eliminates Tomas Holmann; Boosts Stack to 150k

Tomas Holmann Eliminated
Tomas Holmann Eliminated

Patrick Sarca may very well be the chip leader on Day 1A of the 888Live Opening Event here at King's Casino in Rozvadov.

On a flop of {4-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} he check-raised his opponent Tomas Holmann's bet of 5,500 to 11,000 and Holmann called. The turn was the {8-Spades} and Sarca lead for 15,000. His opponent thought for a long time, eyeing up his opponents stack and exchanging a few words.

A third player at the table called for time, but before the floor could reach the table, Holmann had shoved all in for just under 30,000 and Sarca had snap-called.

Sarca showed {9-Spades}{10-Hearts} and his opponent muttered to himself as he showed {5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}. The river was the {j-Clubs} and Holmann was eliminated halfway through Level 8.

With that Sarca increases his stack to over 150,000, which is five starting stacks. There is plenty of time left in the day, but perhaps we may already have our chip leader!

Zdenek Zahorcik Doubles Up

Level 7 : 300/600, 75 ante

The board read {j-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{5-Hearts} and action was on Zdenek Zahorcik in a heads-up pot.

Zahorcik bets 1,800 into a pot of just over 3,000. His opponent then announced raise and threw in 7,000. Zahorcik thought for a minute before announcing all in. He had just under 27,000 in chips at the time and his opponent quickly called.

The Czech player showed {8-Hearts}{8-Spades} for a flopped set of eights, while his opponent let out a "Wow!" as he turned over {5-Clubs}{5-Spades} for a turned set of fives. The river was the {10-Hearts} and Zahorcik doubled to well over average stack which now stands at 44,000.

No Break

Level 7 : 300/600, 75 ante

Despite earlier the players taking a break at the conclusion of level 6, there is no such break as the clock ticks into level 7. It just means that the players are going to have to cross their legs a little bit harder. Next break in 30 minutes.

The average stack is just over 42,000 and there are currently 67 players left from a starting field of 94. Remember, this tournament carries a €150,000 guarantee, and each player is allowed up to two re-entries during each of the four starting flights.
