Gavin Munroe had 14,500 left in his stack when he decided to wager it all preflop. Action folded around to Matthew Lambrecht who shrugged and made the call to put Munroe at risk.

Munroe was ahead going in with his ace-high but the flop of K♦3♣8♠ gave Lambrecht the lead with his pair of kings.

Munroe needed to catch another eight or an ace to stay alive, but the 4♦J♦ runout did not do it for him, and he was eliminated from the tournament.

The J♠ river checked through to showdown, and Lew turned over 5♣5♦ for jacks and eights with a five kicker. Her opponent had 9♦8♦ and took in the pot.

The late registration period for Day 1b of the BetMGM Poker Championship has closed, with 541 entrants recorded from today's session. As it stands, 243 of those remain. Those players must survive the next two levels to make it through to tomorrow's Day 2, which begins at noon local time.

Overall, there have been 1,026 entries, which has created the $3,283,200 prize pool, almost triple the value from 2022.
