Lodden Ktortured

The latest casualty of cracked aces (why do they look so solid, when they're so very brittle?) is Mr. Johnny Lodden.

We caught up with him on a {J-Spades} {2-Spades} {9-Spades} flop, calling Philippe Ktorza's push. The cards were turned over.

Lodden: {A-Clubs} {A-Diamonds}
Ktorza: {J-Diamonds} {Q-Spades}

Turn: {8-Spades} accompanied by a little fist pump from Ktorza

River: an irrelevant {3-Diamonds}

While Ktorza doubled back to around his 30,000 starting stack, Lodden dropped to just 11,000, shaking his head.

JP Finds The Going Getting Tough

JP Kelly raised to 1,500 from the button and both blinds, Slimane Mameche and Guy Goosens called.

The flop was {A-Spades} {9-Clubs} {6-Spades} and it was checked to Kelly who bet 2,800. Mameche called and Goosens folded. Both checked the {8-Diamonds} turn before Mameche quickly fired out a big pot-sized bet of 11,000 on the {7-Clubs} river. Kelly quickly folded.

Veldhuis Passes A Full House (Allegedly)

With the board reading {3-Spades} {Q-Spades} {3-Diamonds}, Lex Veldhuis fired out 2,300 with Fokke Beukers check-calling the bet.

On the {Q-Hearts} turn, Beukers checked again to Veldhuis who bet 4,600 but then Beukers made it 11,000. Veldhuis immediately folded and Beukers showed {A-Hearts} {J-Hearts}.

"I folded a Queen..." said Veldhuis to us with a smile.

Boeken Stubs His Toe

Noah Boeken just lost almost a quarter of his stack without even getting to see a flop. He made it 1,800 from the cut-off before the button reraised to 4,700.

Boeken got a count on his opponent's stack before making it 11,600 to go. A minute later of thinking and his opponent was all-in, a move that clearly displeasured Boeken who then spent a couple of minutes recounting his stack before eventually folding.

The Bus Crew

We've found our PokerStars Express crew!

Barry Greenstein is in the far room, and he looks oh so tired.

We found Dan O'Brien along the rail at a tough table that includes Nick Binger and Joe Cada. "Did you get any sleep?" we asked him. When he turned around to answer, O'Brien actually looked relatively fresh and chipper.

"A couple hours on and off," he said, shaking his head. O'Brien has already been doing some work since his arrival. He managed to spike a set of fives on the river against an opponent with two pair, and Dan-O is up over 40,000 on our first check-in.

Jason Mercier and Allen Bari have made it into their seats as well, and like Barry, they both look utterly exhausted.

And then we have Mr. Eastgate, energetic, talkative, laughing and joking with his table. It looks like he'd have more likely just come from the spa than on a 20-hour bus ride. He and Dario Minieri have been having a good chat for several minutes now, discussing some options for one of their familiar last-longer bets.

After some debate, it appears Dario backed down. After talking about some of Eastgate's recent results, Minieri cracked a huge smile and said, "You very good. You better than me!"

We'll be keeping an eye on these tired souls (and Peter) for the rest of the day.

Mercier Already In The Green

Jason Mercier, who before winning the High-Roller Event at the NAPT last week had had a dry spell recently. He'd gone around three months without winning anything.

Mercier has just arrived on the Pokerstars battlebus and tiredly described the epic bus ride from London as the 'worst of his life'. However he's already up 75 chips over the 30,000 stack while sitting to the right of Danny Ryan.
