We've seen a few, shall we say, interesting bet sizes today. During the first level, Jason Mercier opened a pot with a mini-raise to 200 before an opponent three-bet shoved for about 27,000. Mercier folded that one, and we just caught another odd reraise, this time at Carlos Mortensen's table.
A player had limped in from early position before Carlos Mortensen raised to 2,000 straight. On the button, Aaron Mermelstein thought a reraise was in order, and he made it 37,000 to go. That quickly folded the limper, but "The Matador" spent a long five minutes or so considering before he reluctantly released his cards. Mermelstein asked if Mortensen wanted to see it, and he slapped his on the felt as the dealer pushed him the pot. He risked nearly his full stack, but it's allowed Mermelstein to add 3,450 chips to his tally.
Oh, and don't worry about Mortensen; he's still got 84,000 chips in front of him.
On a board, James Carroll bet enough to cover the rest of his opponent's stack. After a few moments, Carroll's opponent called all in for his remaining 12,000, but Carroll tabled . His opponent couldn't beat it and is eliminated.
After one player limped in from middle position, Jonathan Tamayo raised all in for 8,575 from the next seat. Action then folded to the player in the small blind and he reraised to 52,000 to isolate. Everyone folded.

The flop, turn and river ran through and Tamayo was able to double up.
With the board reading , Joe Cada bet 1,725. His lone opponent in the hand made the call and watched as the board paired on the river with the falling. Cada didn't slow down here and bet 3,475. His opponent tanked for a few minutes and then made the call.
Cada turned over the for running trip jacks and his opponent mucked with a shake of his head.
On a board, Greg Debora check-called 3,875 from Aarton Overton. Both checked the turn card and when the river hit, DeBora checked again. Overton bet 6,225 and after about 45 seconds, Debora called.
Overton showed for top pair, good enough to win the pot.
On a board, Jacobo Fernandez check-called 2,850 from Faraz Jaka. The fell on the river and Fernandez again check-called, this time for 3,650. Jaka tabled and Fernandez couldn't beat it.
Jim Collopy opened to 825 from late position, and Eddy Sabat used his button to come along with the call.
It was heads up to the flop, and both players checked to see the land on fourth street. Collopy took his cue to bet 1,575 at the pot, and Sabat bumped it up to 3,200. Collopy called, and the filled out the board. It went check-check on the river, and there was some friendly discussion about who had to show first. Sabat nipped the conversation in the bud as he tabled , and Collopy mucked.
Sabat couldn't find his straight or his flush (or the ol' straight-flush), but his jacks and nines get the job done, boosting him back to 24,000.
Bill Chen had his last few thousand chips in the middle with the . He ran into the for his opponent. An ace flopped and that was the end of the line for Chen as he wasn't able to stave elimination.
With the board reading , Bernard Lee fired a nice, pot-sized bet of 7,625. His opponent tanked for a bit and eventually made the call. Lee tabled the for quad fours and his opponent mucked.
