Robl Run Out

Level 11 : 5,000/10,000, 2,000 ante

First in from the button, Andrew Robl moved his short stack of 109,000 chips into the middle. Small blind James Obst didn't have much more than that, and he reraised all in for about 120,000 himself. Big blind Nick Schulman considered calling light for a chance at the double knockout, but he eventually talked himself into a fold to let the other to duke it out.

Showdown
Robl: {K-Spades} {K-Hearts}
Obst: {A-Hearts} {6-Clubs}

The flop was about as good an ace-free flop as Obst could ask for, coming {3-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {4-Hearts} to make him the favorite with two to come. The turn {6-Spades} gave him even one more out to the win, and he'd find one of them on the river. The {9-Hearts} dropped off the deck to give Obst the flush and the knockout, nearly doubling up in the process.

"Fun playing with you guys," Robl mumbled as he quickly stood and scurried out the door. He probably meant it, but there was no love to be found in Robl's voice as he's now $100,000 lighter in the wallet.

Tournaments Are Frustrating, Huh?

Level 11 : 5,000/10,000, 2,000 ante

Daniel Cates opened the pot with a raise, and Jason Mercier three-bet him from the button. Pretty run of the mill so far, but Cates had the look of agony on his face. It was two or three minutes before he folded, and Mercier couldn't resist.

"Tournaments are frustrating, huh?" he asked with a smirk.

Cates just winced and shook his head, dropping to 245,000 with his fold.

Obst Tries; Bad Timing

Level 11 : 5,000/10,000, 2,000 ante

James Obst raised to 25,000 to start the action, and his neighbor Nick Schulman three-bet it up to 55,000. Obst called the extra amount, and they went heads up to a {6-Clubs} {7-Hearts} {9-Spades} flop. Obst checked, and Schulman stacked a bet of 87,000 out across the betting line. Obst took several minutes to fiddle with his stack -- he had 303,000 chips left -- alternately cutting out the call, then a raise, then stacking his chips back together. Eventually, a raise came, and a small one to 175,000. Schulman promptly moved all in, and Obst snap-folded to save his 128,000 chips for a better spot.

Straight on Board

Level 11 : 5,000/10,000, 2,000 ante

From the cutoff seat, Vivek Rajkumar opened to 26,000, and Daniel Cates tanked for a while on the button. Eventually, he grabbed all 152,000 of his chips and slid them across the line, and the table folded back to Rajkumar. He asked if it was about one-fifty before announcing the quick call, and the cards were on their backs:

Rajkumar: {A-Spades} {J-Hearts}
Cates: {10-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds}

The {3-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} flop was a big swing and a miss for Cates, but the {7-Spades} turn did give him a few more outs to work with. The look on his face said he wasn't expecting to catch up, but the timely {6-Diamonds} landed on the river to put a straight on board. Cates' {8-Diamonds} plays, though, and his one-better straight has earned him a crucial double up. He's back up to 335,000 now, while Rajkumar falls back under a million to about 880,000.

The River is Nice to Katchalov

Level 11 : 5,000/10,000, 2,000 ante

From under the gun, Andrew Robl raised to 26,000. Eugene Katchalov defended from the big blind and the two saw the flop come down {A-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}. Katchalov check-called a 30,000-chip continuation bet to see the {7-Clubs} fall on the turn.

On the turn, Katchalov checked again. Robl fired 80,000 and got called. The river then completed the board with the {9-Spades} Katchalov checked and Robl fired 230,000. Katchalov made the call holding the {9-Clubs}{6-Clubs} for a rivered two pair. Robl held the {6-Spades}{4-Spades} for a flopped two pair.

Katchalov's hand was best and he improved to 960,000 chips thanks to a very nice river card. Robl dropped to 140,000.

Buchanan Doubles Up Brenes, Then Busts

Level 11 : 5,000/10,000, 2,000 ante

We arrived at the table with 63,000 chips already in the pot and the rest of Team PokerStars Pro Humberto Brenes chips in front of him. The all-in bet was for 217,000 to Shawn Buchanan and he was in the tank. FInally, Buchanan made the call and saw the bad news.

Brenes tabled the {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} and was ahead of the {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} for Buchanan. After the board ran out {9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{4-Clubs}, Brenes doubled to 500,000 and Buchanan was left with just one single T1,000 chip.

That chip was just enough to cover the ante and Buchanan was all in on the next hand. Bryan Colin raised to 20,000 preflop and knocked everyone else out to leave his {J-Hearts}{10-Spades} up against Buchanan's {Q-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}. The board ran out {Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{5-Clubs} and Buchanan was sent packing.

Vivek Shoves

Level 11 : 5,000/10,000, 2,000 ante

From the cutoff seat, Vivek Rajkumar raised to 26,000. Daniel "jungleman12" Cates reraised from the button to 62,000. After Rajkumar tanked for a bit when action got back to him, he moved all in. Cates quickly folded and was knocked back to 360,000 in chips.
