The Proverbial Two Birds

E-Tay, now among the fallen
E-Tay, now among the fallen
Michael "Car Wash" Schneider had just 3,000 chips when he moved all in preflop. Esther "E-Tay" Taylor made the call, only to see an opponent raise to 7,000 behind her. When the betting came back around, she moved all in for just over 20,000, and her live opponent quickly called, putting her tournament life on the line as well.

Showdown
Schneider: {A-?} {K-?}
Taylor: {A-Spades} {K-Spades}
Opponent: {Q-?} {Q-?}

The flop pretty much ended things as it came down {Q-?} {2-?} {2-?}. Taylor was drawing completely dead, while Schneider was left drawing to just a runner-runner royal flush. The turn would dispel any delusions he had of winning though; the case {Q-?} ripped off, giving the unknown opponent unbeatable quad queens.

Both E-Tay and Car Wash are now meandering around the room, checking on their pals.

Tims Moves On

Jeff Tims managed to coax a quick double up out of his short stack, moving back up to 3,800. Still, he had to pick a spot, and looking down at {K-Clubs} {4-Clubs}, he found that spot. He moved all in, getting action in one place, his opponent turning over {A-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds}.

The flop was a beautiful miss for the short stack, coming down {3-Clubs} {6-Clubs} {3-Hearts}. "Come on, club!" implored the at-risk Tims. But it wasn't to be. The turn and river blanked off with the {10-Diamonds} and {3-Spades} respectively, and Tims has been sent packing.

Chainsaw!

Allen Kessler
Allen Kessler
The last time we walked past Allen Kessler's table, he had just three little chips left. Now, glancing back over there, it appears that the Chainsaw has run out of gas. We'll try to scrounge up some details, but suffice it to say that Kessler has been eliminated.

Update: Kessler moved all in, first in from the button. The small blind called with {A-?} {J-?}, and the big blind followed suit with his {7-?} {7-?}. An ace on the river gave the pot to the small blind as Kessler mucked his cards and headed out the door.

Tims Runs Kings Into Aces

Not much working today
Not much working today
Jeff Tims hasn't been too active today as spots and hands have been sparse. He recently found himself involved in a big pot with 30,000 chips in it preflop. Tims held kings, but unfortunately for him, his opponent held two aces. The aces held and Tims has only 1,500 chips.

Binger Gets Knocked Down

Michael Binger
Michael Binger
Michael Binger raised to 800 from under the gun and the players on the button and in the small blind made the call. The three players saw the flop come down {Q-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} {5-Hearts}.

The small blind led out with a bet of 800 and Binger called along with the button player. The turn brought the {2-Spades} and the small blind checked. Binger bet 3,000 and the button raised to 7,000 and was all in. The small blind got out of the way and then Binger went into the tank before making the call.

Binger showed {Q-Diamonds} {10-Clubs}, but the all-in player held {Q-Spades} {J-Clubs}.

The river was the {10-Diamonds}, but Binger's two pair was still second best and he's down to 5,200 chips.

The State of the Union

Not that chips have been flying around the room for the first five levels... but play has really ground to a halt here in level six. There are a couple big pots being played here and there around the room, but the vast majority of hands are being won without major confrontation. Some pots are limped five and six ways, and a single bet or raise is often enough to get everyone off of their hands.

Perhaps it's that "buffet fold equity" that's keeping people tight and passive; it always makes its appearance in the level preceding the dinner break.
