$5,150 Circuit Championship Event

Day 1 Completed

Day 1 Concludes

Billy Kopp
Billy Kopp
After piling all of their chips into the biggest clear plastic chip bags on the planet, the remaining ~63 players have headed off to bed.

One hundred sixty-seven players began play some twelve hours ago, and that number has been reduced by more than 100 as things draw to a close for the night. Billy Kopp will take the overnight chip lead, bagging up more than 260,000 chips! A few players are still hot on his heels though, including the rocket hot Dwyte Pilgrim. Pilgrim was crippled late in the last level, but he managed to go on an absolute tear to take the chip lead at his table and put himself in the Top 5 overall by the time the clock hit zero.

Day 2 will get going at noon again tomorrow. Until then, goodnight from New Orleans!

Pilgrim Takes a Huge Final Pot

On the flop of {J-Hearts} {8-Hearts} {7-Diamonds}, Dwyte Pilgrim bet 7,000 into two players. Jean Gaspard called along with the other player.

The turn brought the {3-Diamonds} and Pilgrim bet 11,500. Gaspard called as did the third player in the hand.

After the river fell the {A-Spades}, Pilgrim fired a massive 65,400. This bet sent Gaspard into the tank and he stayed there for multiple minutes. Finally, he folded, but his cards turned face up, {J-Spades} {10-Diamonds}. There was still action pending.

The third player took another moment and then folded. Dwyte was begged by the table to show his hand and eventually was persuaded into showing {10-Spades} {9-Hearts} for the flopped nut straight. He now has 179,200 chips to finish the day.

Brady Trying to Climb Back

After some preflop action, a player from the small blind bet 3,000 into Matt Brady on a flop of {A-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {7-Spades}. Brady then raised to 6,500 and this sent his opponent into the tank.

After studying Brady, who sat still for a few minutes, the player folded and Brady scooped the pot. He has dropped a little though and has around 30,000 chips.

Dwyte Gets Some Back

Dwyte
Dwyte
Dwyte won't go without a fight. Just following that crippling encounter with Shaun Deeb, Pilgrim managed a triple up, working himself back up to a respectable 31,000.

Deeb v. Pilgrim: Round Two

Shaun Deeb opened the betting from early position with a raise to 2,600. Dwyte Pilgrim has been making it a point to call Deeb's raises, and this time was no exception. Also into the pot came the big blind, and it was three handed to the flop.

It brought {2-Clubs} {9-Hearts} {J-Hearts}. Deeb checked, and Pilgrim flicked out a single gray T5,000 chip as his bet. The big blind ducked out, but Deeb furrowed his brow, grabbed raising chips, and stacked out a total of 16,300. Pilgrim quickly called.

Fourth street came the {A-Clubs}. Deeb paused for a moment before knocking the table, and Pilgrim quickly reached for chips. He threw out 24,000, and Deeb took his time considering his options.

"If you wanna see both cards, I'll show you," said Pilgrim. "But you do what you gotta do."

What he had to do was call apparently, as Deeb matched the bet. The river came the {5-Spades}. Deeb again passed, and Pilgrim instantly and quietly announced, "I'm all in, son." The two men exchanged glances for a couple moments with Deeb counting his remaining chips -- he had 46,500 of them left, slightly covered by Pilgrim. Finally, putting his own tournament life at risk, Deeb flatly said, "I call."

Pilgrim looked as if he had be caught with his hand in the cookie jar, and indeed he had. He sheepishly showed up his {Q-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds}, while Deeb tabled the winning {A-Diamonds} {7-Hearts}. After pulling in that monster pot (the biggest of the tournament so far), Deeb has vaulted up the leader board, sitting now with just over 180,000! Pilgrim, on the other hand, is crippled all the way back to just 9,400.

With Dwyte Pilgrim reeling, Round 2 goes to Shaun Deeb.

Gray Drops One

After some preflop and flop action, Thomas Gray made a bet of 3,000 when his opponent checked to him on the turn. The board read {7-Diamonds} {4-Spades} {4-Clubs} {4-Diamonds}.

"I really think I'm ahead," said Gray's opponent. He then took another moment and made a raise to 13,000. "I think I'm ahead, but I'm not sure," he continued.

Gray responded by saying, "I know what that means," and mucked his hand.

Driving the Kopp Car

On the flop of {A-Clubs} {8-Clubs} {5-Clubs}, Billy Kopp made a bet and was called by the hijack seat. The turn brought the {J-Hearts} and Kopp reached for more chips. This time he made it 15,000. His opponent took a minute and then folded.

Kopp now has 142,000 chips.
