Ford Doubles Through E-Tay

Esther "E-Tay" Taylor raised to 475 from early position. The cutoff seat then reraised to 1,600. The small blind, William Ford, flatted the three bet and then action went back over to Taylor. She put in another raise to 4,975 and the cutoff seat folded. Ford then put the remaining chips in his stack in the middle.

E-Tay was faced with calling 5,925 more and did so. "You're way ahead," she said.

Showdown:
Taylor: {A-Spades} {5-Diamonds}
Ford: {A-Clubs} {K-Clubs}

The board ran out {8-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {2-Clubs} {A-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} allowing Ford to double up. Taylor dropped to around 34,000 chips.

Woo Wants Chips

We join the action on a flop that read {6-Hearts} {A-Clubs} {4-Diamonds}. David Woo was involved in this heads-up contest, and after a series of bets and raises, his opponent ended up all in for just about 25,000, with Woo's covering stack putting him at risk. The unknown player tabled {A-?} {K-?}, only to see Woo turn over aces up with {A-Diamonds} {4-Clubs}. The turn and river came {2-Hearts} and {Q-Hearts} respectively, and Woo has sent another player packing.

With that win, David Woo has claimed the chip lead, sitting on a mountain of 79,000 chips here in the early going.

Half Blaked

The details of the hand are unclear, but Circuit regular Blake Purvis is sitting alone on the stage overlooking the tournament area, a fair indication that he has been eliminated from the field.

The Ladies Love Shaun Deeb

Shaun Deeb
Shaun Deeb
We pick up the action on the flop in a heads-up pot between Shaun Deeb and Charles Wight. When the first three community cards came out {3-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} {7-Hearts}, Deeb kicked things off with a bet of 1,100. From the button, Charles Wight came over the top with a re-raise to what looked like 4,000, and Deeb called.

Fourth street came the {8-Diamonds}. Deeb slowed down this time, check-calling a bet of 3,500 from Wight. The river was the {4-Clubs}, and both players checked. Wight tabled {9-Spades} {9-Clubs} for the overpair. It was no good though; Deeb showed down {Q-Spades} {Q-Diamonds}, good enough to earn him the pot with the bigger pair.

---

On the very next hand, five people saw a flop of {2-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} {6-Clubs}. Deeb led out from early position with 2,100 chips, and an opponent raised to 5,000. When it folded back around to Deeb, he check-raised to 20,000, enough to put his man all in. The unknown player quickly called, turning over {2-Spades} {2-Clubs}. To everyone's surprise, Deeb tabled the exact same {Q-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} that he held the last hand; the difference this time was that Deeb was well behind his opponent's set of deuces. The turn and river blanked off, and what the queens gaveth, the queens tooketh away from Shaun Deeb. After all that chip movement, he is still steady at 32,000.

Halata Plays it Cautiously

Paula Halata
Paula Halata
From early position, Jonas Wexler opened with a raise to 550. Next to him, Paula Halata popped it up to 1,200. Wexler was the lone caller, and it was heads up to the flop.

It came {7-Clubs} {3-Spades} {9-Hearts}, and both players checked.

Fourth street brought the {K-Hearts}. Wexler very slowly tapped the felt, and Halata opted to fire out a bet of 2,000. Before her chips even hit the felt, Wexler was in there with the call.

The river came the {8-Clubs}. Again, Wexler checked slowly, and this time, Halata quickly checked back. Wexler confidently tabled {K-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts}, while Halata turned over {7-Diamonds} {7-Spades} for the winning trip sevens.

The Dao of Poker

David Dao opened the betting from the cutoff seat, putting in a raise to 650. Seth Fischer was next, and he re-raised it to 1,700 from the button. Action folded back around the table and Dao who, in his typical fashion, took his time before very deliberately calling the bet.

The flop came down {K-Clubs} {10-Hearts} {9-Clubs}. Dao checked, and Fischer continued out with a bet of 2,000. Dao checked and re-checked his cards. Then he took another moment to size up his opponent before making the call.

Fourth street was the {7-Spades}. Dao again passed, and Fischer opted to bet again, this time 5,000. It would take another minute or two of card checking, chip counting, and opponent staring, but Dao opted to let his hand go, shipping the pot over to Fischer.

Minaya Scoops Without Showdown

Manny Minaya
Manny Minaya
On the flop of {9-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {3-Spades}, Allie Prescott checked before the next player bet 750. The third player raised to 2,000. Manny Minaya called on the button and then Prescott called as well. The original bettor also called.

The turn brought the {2-Spades} and all three players checked to Minaya. He tossed out a hefty bet of 10,000. Each player took a few moments before folding and Minaya scooped the nice pot.
