So Long, Soheil

Way across the room, Soheil Shamseddin stood up from his chair and announced to everyone that he was all in. Hurrying over to his table, we saw that four cards were out on the board ({7-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} {2-Hearts}), Shamseddin was indeed all in, and Joey Erwin had looked him up with the covering stack.

Showdown
Shamseddin: {K-Clubs} {K-Hearts}
Erwin: {8-Spades} {9-Clubs}

Shamseddin was in great shape for a big double up, a clear favorite with one card to come. Much to his chagrin though, the {8-Diamonds} ripped off on the river, making Erwin the winning come-from-behind two pair and sending Shamseddin oribiting the room, recounting the hand to anyone who would listen.

Erwin was clearly empathetic to the pro's fate, shaking his head and lamenting, "I made a bad read." Bad read or not, five cards fill out the board, and it was the fifth that saved Erwin. He has notched a knockout, vaulting up over 70,000 in the process.

Gaspard Picked Off

A player in middle position opened with a raise to 2,800, and he was called only by big stack Jean Gaspard.

The first three community cards showed up {A-Hearts} {K-Hearts} {Q-Hearts}. Gaspard checked, allowing the raiser to keep the pressure on with a follow-up bet of 3,500; Gaspard called.

Fourth street came the {A-Diamonds}. Gaspard now took control of the betting, firing out 5,500 chips which his opponent eventually called.

Fifth street was the {3-Spades}. Gaspard bet once more, grabbing 7,200 chips from his stack and flicking them into the betting area. His opponent thought for nearly a minute before making the call.

Gaspard showed down {7-Clubs} {2-Clubs} for the airball, seven high. His opponent didn't need much to win this pot, and his {A-Clubs} {9-Clubs} was plenty good.

After shipping nearly 20,000 chips across the table, Jean Gaspard has slipped back to 65,000.

Vizza Takes One

Frank Vizza
Frank Vizza
Frrank Vizza completed from the small blind before the big blind checked and after two players limped in. The flop came down {K-Spades} {10-Clubs} {3-Hearts} and everyone checked to the button, Joaquin Sosa. He bet 1,200 and only Vizza called.

The turn brought the {8-Spades} and Vizza checked. Sosa checked behind.

The river was the {7-Spades} and Vizza fired 5,000. Sosa took a moment and then slid his hand towards to muck.

Vizza now has 25,000 chips.

Deeb v. Pilgrim: Round One

Shaun Deeb and Dwyte Pilgrim have been engaged in a good-natured verbal tussle over on Table 51, and we knew it was only a matter of time before the two tangled in a pot.

Shaun Deeb started things off with a raise to 2,100 from early position. Action folded around to Dwyte Pilgrim, and he reraised to 3,400. It quickly passed back to Deeb, and he wondered aloud, "Is that even a legal amount?"

"Come on, Shaun," said Pilgrim with a big smile. "You know I got this. At least give me the credit that I know how to raise, man!" Deeb laughed it off and made the call.

The flop showed up {9-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds}. Deeb checked, and Pilgrim continued out with a bet of 2,500, which was quickly called.

The turn came the {8-Diamonds}. Deeb again check-called a bet, this time 5,800. The river brought the {5-Spades}. Deeb checked, and Pilgrim fired out the same 5,800-chip bet. Deeb looked a bit puzzled, but he opted to call, splashing the chips into the pot.

"I got a pretty weak hand," said Pilgrim, tabling {10-Diamonds} {10-Spades}.

"Actually, that's a pretty nice value bet," commended Deeb, slipping his cards into the muck. With that confrontation, a few chips change hands, and Round 1 goes to Pilgrim. It's pretty apparent that this won't be the last time these two men tangle heads up.

Monkey Goes South

Monkey Souther moved all in for his last 4,000 chips and was called in one spot. Souther was excited to hold live cards with {Q-Clubs} {10-Spades} against his opponent's {A-Hearts} {K-Spades}.

The board ran out {8-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} {2-Clubs} {8-Hearts} {9-Spades} and Souther was eliminated.

MBN to Run Like Shaun Deeb

Shaun Deeb runs like God
Shaun Deeb runs like God
Four players saw a flop in a raised pot over on the Table of Death, and it showed up {A-Spades} {5-Spades} {9-Spades}. The betting checked around to the cutoff where Shaun Deeb grabbed control by flicking out 3,650 chips. The player on the button made the call, folding the other two opponents.

Heads up now, the turn card came the {4-Clubs}. Deeb kept the heat on with a bet of 9,150. His opponent came along once again.

The last card brought the {9-Diamonds}. Deeb checked this time, while his opponent sat motionless for about a minute. Finally, the opponent tapped the table reluctantly. Deeb raised his cards off the table toward the muck, waiting to see his opponent's winning hand. "You're good," said Deeb, cards still lingering in midair.

"Does he fold?" asked the button.

"No, I have a four," said Deeb, flashing the {4-Diamonds} on the bottom. "You're good."

"Four's good," came the reply from the button. Sheepishly, Deeb tabled his full hand, {Q-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds}, good enough to win him the pot. He's back up to 86,000.

After the hand, Deeb walked over to Michael Binger, who -- freshly busto from this event -- was sitting on the rail sipping a cocktail. After running him through the hand from start to finish, Binger simply shook his head. "Must be nice, Shaun... M-B-N."
