Off to Tend to His Sheep

Rick Sheperd has fallen just short of the money. He got it all in preflop with the strong-looking {Q-Spades} {Q-Hearts} and was happy to see he was up against an opponent's {K-Clubs} {J-Clubs}. All was looking good too as the cards were dealt -- that was until a cruel king fell on the river!

Three-Way Big Pot Action

Frank Cremen opens the pot with a raise before Mitchell Martin, in the next seat, three-bets it and Arash Beral four-bets it. Both players make the call so to a flop we go.. {2-Diamonds} {5-Spades} {8-Diamonds}.

It's checked to Arash who makes a bet before Frank raises. It's enough for Mitchell to get out of the way before Arash reraises and Frank calls. The turn brings {A-Hearts} before a check-call from Frank ends the hand. Frank mucks once he sees Arash's {Q-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} but he's still sitting pretty on 50,200 while Arash is now up to 29,800.

Aces Hold for Sjavik

Jan Sjavik raised from the button with {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds} and got two callers, Ayaz Mahmood and Spencer Lawrence. The flop came {7-Spades}{9-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} and Mahmood led out from the small blind. Lawrence then raised and Sjavik followed suit with a raise of his own. Mahmood bowed out and Lawrence called all in. Sjavik turned over his aces and Lawrence showed {J-Hearts}{9-Hearts}. The turn and river were of no help to Lawrence and he busted out of the tournament.

Sjavik is up to 52,500

Eslami vs. Human Beings

Ali Eslami
Ali Eslami
Ali Eslami and fellow poker pro Phil "The Unabomber" Laak made headlines last July for besting advanced poker bot "Polaris" in a series of heads-up hold'em sessions. Today, Eslami looks to return to the limelight and reach his first final table of the 2008 World Series of Poker.

Eslami came quite close a few nights ago, finishing 11th in the $10,000 Mixed Games World Championship. Ali currently sits with circa 26,000 in chips and looks to be a good bet to make the money as we're just three eliminations away from bursting the bubble.

Hein in Need of a Heineken

Hein Tran falls just short of the money after getting all his chips in pre flop versus Steven Shkolnik. He was hoping for a race situation holding {7-?} {7-?} but found himself dominated by Steve's {9-?} {9-?}. The board changed nothing and Hein bows out.

Hate Those Ladies

Zelong Dong makes a raise from early position that finds a caller in the shape of Dean Oshiro in mid position. The dealer delivers a flop of {4-Spades} {2-Clubs} {8-Hearts} before Zelong leads out before facing a raise from Dean. His answer is to reraise before getting raised right back.

Zelong makes the call before the turn comes {2-Hearts}. Zelong check-calls a bet from Dean before the river is dealt as {K-Diamonds}. Zelong check-calls another bet from Dean but isn't happy to see his {Q-?} {Q-?} beaten by the full house of Dean holding {4-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} . Dean up to 20,100 now.

Off to the Races We Go

Romel Bako makes a raise before Zac Fellows reraises. Romel makes another raises that puts him all in and Zac makes the call holding {A-Diamonds} {K-Clubs}. Romel needs his {Q-Spades} {Q-Clubs} to hold up as the delaer takes us all the way to the river {K-Diamonds} {8-Spades} {7-Clubs} {6-Hearts} {J-Clubs} . The first card out was enough for fot Zac to take the lead and stay there, eliminating Romel in the mean time. Zac up to around 54,000 as a result.

All in Preflop

A four bet all in from Jesse Martin is called by Jody Garaventa so cards are on their backs preflop. Jody's holding {9-Clubs} {9-Hearts} and it's in good shape against Jesse's {4-Clubs} {4-Hearts} . That is until the flop comes down {4-Spades} {3-Spades} {3-Hearts} !! The turn {5-Hearts} and river {7-Hearts} change nothing and we lose Jody while Jesse moves up to 35,000.

Bogdanski Doubles Up

Gary Bogdanski has managed to double through George Rechnitzer. All the chips went in preflop and we had a race situation as Gary was holding {2-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} to George's {A-Spades} {K-Hearts}. The dealer went all the way to river with {J-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} {7-Clubs}. The deauces held up propelling Gary up to 34,500.

George was left short-stacked after this and was eliminated not long after.

18 more eliminations before we reach the money.
