Kostritsyn Falling

Adam Hourani raised to 22,000 from UTG, Alexander Kostritsyn called in the small blind and John Juanda called in the big blind. The flop was {A-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {5-Hearts} and all three players checked. The turn was the {K-Diamonds}. Kostritsyn bet 40,000, Juanda folded and Hourani called. The river was the {10-Diamonds}. Kostritsyn checked and Hourani checked.

Hourani turned up {J-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} and took it down with a flush. Kostritsyn mucked and was left with 130,000 in chips while Hourani was up to 440,000.

The Bubble That Wouldn't Burst

Ted Lawson
Ted Lawson
Sitting on the short stack with just 40,000, Ted Lawson raised pot to 28,000 from late position and David Benyamine called on the button. The flop came {6-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}. Lawson put the rest of his chips in, and Benyamine called.

Lawson had {A-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{K-Spades} -- a pair of sixes. Benyamine had {4-Spades}{5-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} -- a pair of sevens and a nice straight draw.

The turn was the {2-Spades}, giving Lawson two pair. And the river was the {A-Spades}, improving Lawson's two pair and giving him the pot. Lawson doubles up to 80,000, and Benyamine is now at 370,000.

More Hellmuthisms

Since the hands in play aren't too terribly interesting at the moment, how about more trashtalking from Phil Hellmuth?

Most of this is directed at Brian Rast, by the way.

"You're just some internet donkey."

"I face guys like you every day."

"When do they change dealers in this casino?"

"I can't even raise with top two pair!"

"Oh whoops, you made the straight! Whoops, you picked up the flush draw too!"

"This just makes me sick, man. How did you make it this far?"

"I play so far above the rim it's just sick."

"I'm like the matrix. Dodging knives. Jujitsu.'

Juanda Knocks Out Stockinger

Sigi Stockinger
Sigi Stockinger
Sigi Stockinger raised to 28,000 from early position. Emmanuel Sebag, Eli Elezra, and Alexander Kostritsyn all called. Then John Juanda raised to 168,000 from the big blind. Stockinger called his last 69,000 all in, Sebag called, and Elezra and Kostritsyn got out of the way.

The flop came {4-Spades}{5-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}, and Juanda quickly pushed out two stacks of pink chips -- 175,000. Sebag folded.

Juanda {K-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{A-Spades}{J-Spades}
Stockinger {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{J-Hearts}

The turn brought the {J-Diamonds}. "Diamond!" said Stockinger. The river was the {2-Spades}, and Juanda took the pot with his jacks and fours.

Stockinger is out in 20th. One more to go and we are in the money.

Still Holding at 20 Players

It has been a full two hours since Cole South was eliminated in 21st place and we have yet to lose another player.

Perhaps writing this fact will jinx it all and another will bust just as I hit "publish."

"Put THAT in the Blog"

Phil Hellmuth continues to berate chipleader Brian Rast after nearly every hand he plays.

"He plays 2-2-6-9 with three diamonds and 2-2-4-9 with three hearts!"

"He says he has reasons for it. Guaranteed you won't make the final nine."

"Put THAT in the blog" he said to one of our field reporters.

OK, Phil. You got your wish.

Daniel Negreanu Doubles Through Sigi Stockinger

It was a limped pot, Daniel Negreanu and Sigi Stockinger seeing a flop of {K-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {3-Spades}. Negreanu bet 16,000, Stockinger raised to 80,000 and Negreanu called. The turn was the {A-Hearts}. Negreanu moved all in for 37,000 and Stockinger called.

Negreanu {A-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {2-Spades}

Stockinger {K-Clubs} {K-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} {8-Clubs}

Stockinger had flopped a set of kings, but Negreanu turned the wheel. The river was the {10-Clubs} and Negreanu doubled up to 265,000 while Stockinger fell to 90,000.
