A Boat for Bach

Omaha-8:

On a flop of {J-Clubs} {3-Clubs} {3-Hearts}, David Bach bet out from the big blind and Patrick Bueno called from UTG. The turn was the {9-Clubs} and both players checked. The river was the {10-Clubs}. Bach bet and Bueno called.

Bach rolled over {A-Diamonds} {3-Spades} {J-Spades} {J-Hearts} for a full house and Bueno mucked. The hand took Bach's stack up to 1,600,000 while Bueno was down to 500,000.

Ivey Outkicked

Hold'em:

Phil Ivey opened for a raise from the cutoff, Patrick Bueno three-bet from the big blind and Ivey called. The flop was {Q-Hearts} {J-Spades} {3-Diamonds}. Bueno led out and Ivey called. The turn was the {3-Spades}. Bueno led again and Ivey called. The river was the {5-Spades}-- same story.

Bueno turned up {A-Clubs} {Q-Spades} and Ivey {K-?} {Q-?}. Bueno dragged the pot, knocking Ivey down to 290,000.

He Likes Things Just So

It's said that one of the advantages online poker has over live play is that when you play online you have control over your environment. You can play at your desk or in bed or lounging in a hot tub (not recommended). Don't feel like getting dressed up? No problem--you can play in your sweats, in your underwear, or wearing nothing at all (not recommended).

But David Bach is doing what he can to be as comfortable as possible. He's been getting a massage for several hours now--and we're talking about a deep-tissue, this-might-leave-a-bruise rubdown. And Bach plays with a little fan sitting on the table to blow a cool breeze his way. That fan just ran out of batteries, but disaster was averted when Bach popped in a fresh pair. If you want to be completely comfortable at the poker table, you have to be prepared.

Average Pot Size

It may appear at times that the chip counts are swinging wildly, but keep in mind, with the betting limits at 30,000-60,000, most contested pots are in the 400,000-600,000 range.

Daniel Negreanu Eliminated in 13th Place ($142,080)

Daniel Negreanu - 13th Place
Daniel Negreanu - 13th Place
Stud-8:

Daniel Negreanu committed the last of his chips in a hand with Lyle Berman. Negreanu bet on third street and Berman called, but on fourth and fifth street the two players traded bets and raises until the last of Negreanu's chips were in the pot.

Daniel showed {A-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} {K-Hearts} {A-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} to Berman's {8-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} {6-Spades} {3-Hearts} {3-Clubs}, but Berman caught the {6-Diamonds} and then the {3-Spades} for a full house and when Negreanu's hand didn't improve and he ended up without a qualifying low, Berman scooped the pot and Negreanu was eliminated.

Bueno Scoops Seed

Stud-8:

Patrick Bueno (X-X) {7-Spades} {7-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} (X)

Huck Seed (X-X) {5-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} (X)

Bueno completed on third street and Seed called. Bueno led out on fourth, fifth and sixth streets and was called down the whole way by Seed. On seventh, both players checked.

Bueno turned up {Q-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {6-Spades} for two pair and no low. Seed studied his hole cards for a moment before mucking, and Bueno scooped the pot.

Phil Ivey's Down, Phil Ivey's Up

Stud-8:

Phil Ivey lost about 100,000 in a pot with Patrick Bueno where Ivey had a pair of queens and no low and lost when Bueno made two pair on the river. That hand dropped him down to 400,000...but on the very next hand he nearly doubled up in another hand with Bueno and built his stack back up to around 700,000. Just about any pot that goes to the river can bring about a huge swing in a player's fortunes and for right now Phil Ivey's on the upswing.

David Bach Takes a Pot from Patrick Bueno

Stud:

On seventh street and with his board reading {3-Spades} {4-Spades} {7-Clubs} {9-Spades} Patrick Bueno bet out in a hand with David Bach. But while Bach had simply called on sixth street with his board showing {K-Clubs} {9-Clubs} {10-Clubs} {7-Spades} he chose now to raise, and when Bueno made the call Bach showed {J-Clubs} {3-Clubs} {7-Hearts} for the king-high flush and took down the pot.
