Carvin' em Up

Jason "JCarver" Somerville opened to 200 from the cutoff and an opponent in the big blind moved all in for their last 600. Somerville called.

Showdown
Somerville: {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}
Big Blind: {9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}

The {4-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{J-Clubs} flop gave Somerville a decisive lead and he held after the turn and river both brought queens. With the knockout Somerville is up to 11,500 chips.

Six-Bets and a Chop!

Facing a raise to 250 from a player in the cutoff, Jarred Solomon three-bet the button to 725 only to have an opponent in the big blind make it 1,950.

The original raiser folded, but after some deliberation, Solomon made it 3,450 to go. His opponent grabbed all his chips and pushed them into the middle with Solomon make the call for his tournament life.

Solomon: {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}
Opponent: {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}

The board ran out {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{7-Spades}{3-Clubs} to see all that raising turn into nothing as both players chopped it up as Solomon climbed slightly to 6,000 in chips.

Voegele Vanquished

Octavian Voegele unfortunately doesn't have this many chips!
Octavian Voegele unfortunately doesn't have this many chips!

Octavian Voegele was just seen exiting the tournament area.

He waltzed by the PokerNews blogging desk to detail his bust out of being unable to improve with {A-}{Q-} against an opponent's {10-}{10-}.

Lindgren Chops

Facing an early position raise to 300, Erick Lindgren made the call along with another player to see a {J-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{4-Spades} flop fall.

The action was checked round to see the {7-Spades} land on the turn and the original raiser fire out 500. The player caught in the middle called only to have Lindgren bump it to 2,000.

The original raiser made the call as the player caught in the middle folded as the {6-Diamonds} landed on the river. Lindgren fired out 2,200 and his opponent made a cringing call only to turn over his {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} to chop with Lindgren's {A-Spades}{J-Spades}.

Akkari Flush'd

Andre Akkari in earlier WSOP action
Andre Akkari in earlier WSOP action

With around 5,000 in the pot and a board reading {10-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{2-Spades}, Andre Akkari was faced with an all in from one of his opponents to the total of 5,350.

"How much do you have?" Akkari asked Neil Channing who was also in the hand.

Channing uttered something in his English tone before Akkari returned to a deep thought.

Eventually he cut out the chips to make the call and dropped them in front of his cards as Channing quickly tossed his cards into the muck - similar to the way his country's soccer team let their World Cup bid slip just a few nights ago!

Akkari tapped the table and slid his cards into the muck at the sight of his opponent's {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts} as he slipped to just 3,800 in chips.

Bolotin Busts

It was a quick day for Brooklyn native Alex Bolotin.

A player raised to 300 from under the gun and James Akenhead made the call out of the small blind. Bolotin moved all in for his last 1,000 chips from the big blind and the original raiser four-bet to 2,000. Akenhead released and it was showdown time:

Showdown
Mr. Under The Gun: {7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}
Bolotin: {2-Spades}{2-Diamonds}

There was no help on the {J-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{6-Clubs} board for Bolotin and he reported to the rail

Scharf Start

Eddy Scharf opened to 150 from early position and the action folded to the blinds. Lee Childs called out of the small blind and a player in the big blind called as well.

The dealer fanned {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{J-Clubs} and the action checked to Scharf who continued for 300. Childs was his only caller.

Both players checked the {7-Spades} on the turn and the river brought the {2-Spades}. Childs led for 500 and Scharf made the call.

Childs tabled {J-Diamonds}{10-Spades} for a pair of jacks but Scharf opened {Q-Diamonds}{J-Spades} for the same pair and a better kicker shipping him the pot.

Scharf is up to 10,000 chips and Childs has slipped below starting stack to 6,325.
