Sands Loses One, but Still Doing Well

Dave "Doc" Sands raised to 3,300 from the cutoff seat and Ben Zamani called from the big blind. The flop came down {A-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and Zamani check-called a bet of 4,800 from Sands.

The turn brought the {7-Hearts} and both players checked before seeing the {J-Diamonds} fall on the river. Zamani check-called a bet of 8,400 from Sands, who announced two pair. Zamani tabled the {A-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} for a straight and scooped the pot to move back to 100,000 in chips. Sands dropped a little bit, but still has 360,000.

Deeb Bluffs The Magician

Antonio Esfandiari raised it up to 4,000 from under the gun and Freddy Deeb defended his big blind with a call.

They took a flop of {4-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} and Deeb checked to Esfandiari who fired 6,500. Deeb put in a check-raise to 18,500 and Esfandiari made the call.

The turn was the {A-Clubs} and both players checked before the {10-Diamonds} hit the river. Deeb led out with a bet of 30,000 and Esfandiari let it go.

Deeb then flashed {9-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} for the complete air ball! Deeb chuckled to himself as Esfandiari remained quiet.

"I think Freddy just announced it game on!" commented tablemate Gavin Smith.

Esfandiari slips to 265,000 with Deeb now up to 200,000.

Double Double Dario

Immediately after doubling his short stack to 53,000, Dario Minieri pulled the same trick off again.

Jack Schanbacher opened for 3,200 from the hijack and Minieri three-bet to 8,500. Schanbacher set Minieri all-in and he made the call.

Minieri {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Schanbacher {K-Hearts}{J-Spades}

Dario's tens held up on the {4-Clubs}{8-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} board and he doubled to 110,000. Schanbacher is down to 185,000.

Sung Gone

On the turn, the board read {K-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} between Steve Sung and Antonio Esfandiari. All of the money went in with Sung the player at risk for his tournament life. He held the {9-Clubs}{5-Spades} and was up against the {K-Spades}{5-Diamonds} of Esfandiari.

The river was the {3-Clubs} and there was no miracle card for this hand, eliminating Sung and sending him to the rail. Esfandiari moved to 315,000 in chips.

Tight Fold?

With the board reading {5-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{5-Spades}, Mikael Thuritz bet 43,000 and Sam Trickett moved all-in, having Thuritz covered. Thuritz tanked for a minute before folding.

Trickett showed the {Q-Diamonds}, which got a bit of a rise out of Eli Elezra.

"He had {Q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}. If he didn't have the seven he's really crazy."

Thuritz said he folded {Q-Hearts}{J-Hearts} as Trickett stacked up his 365,000 in chips.

DeGilio Out

Mikael Thuritz raised to 3,000 and Sam Trickett flatted from the small blind. Mike DeGilio reraised all in from the big blind for about 35,000. Thuritz called and Trickett folded.

Thuritz held two red kings and DeGilio held the {A-}{Q-}. The board ran out clean for Thuritz and he moved to 290,000 in chips by eliminating DeGilio.
