"That's Why He's John Juanda"

With the board reading {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} on the turn, John Juanda led out for 25,000 from the big blind and Alexander Roumeliotis made the call from the cutoff. The river was the {Q-Clubs}. Juanda bet 42,000 and and Roumeliotis called.

Juanda showed {K-Clubs}{6-Clubs} for the rivered flush and as Roumeliotis mucked, Abe Mosseri broke into song.

"That's why he's John Juanda," he warbled.

Mercer Gets Value from Negreanu

Heather Sue Mercer opened for a 6,000 raise from under-the-gun and Daniel Negreanu flat-called from the small blind.

Negreanu checked the {A-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{5-Clubs} flop over to Mercer who bet 8,000. Negreanu called and they went to the turn which fell the {10-Clubs}. Negreanu checked and Mercer checked behind. The river was the {7-Clubs} and Negreanu again checked to Mercer. She bet 20,000 and Negreanu called.

Negreanu showed {J-Spades}{J-Clubs} but Mercer had the winner with {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} and increased her stack to 217,000. Negreanu is still near the top of the leaderboard with 422,000.

ElkY Exits

Isaac Haxton opened for 4,700 from under-the-gun, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier moved all-in for 37,000 from the hijack and Haxton made the call.

Grospellier {6-Clubs}{6-Hearts}
Haxton {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}

ElkY couldn't catch up on the {7-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{4-Spades} board and hit the rail. Haxton is up to 340,000.

Short Stack Action

A couple of our big stacks have just taken a hit as they've doubled up their short-stacked opponents.

Sam Trickett snap-called in the big blind when he found an ace against an under-the-gun player who moved all in for 34,300. Trickett showed {A-Spades}{5-Hearts} but he was dominated against his opponent's {A-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} and didn't improve on the {10-Hearts}{6-Spades}{3-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{7-Spades} board. He's back to 400,000.

Meanwhile Antonio Esfandiari went to war with {A-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} against a short stack's {7-Hearts}{7-Hearts}. Esfandiari received no help on the {2-Spades}{K-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{K-Spades} board and slipped back to 155,000.

Two short stacks who were unable to survive elimination were Andrew Lichtenberger and Nikolay Evdakov who were both recently sent to the rail.

Kevin MacPhee Eliminated

Alex Roumeliotis opened for 4,500, Phil Ivey called on the button and Kevin MacPhee moved all-in for 25,100 from the small blind. Scott Seiver called from the big blind and both Roumeliotis and Ivey folded.

MacPhee {6-Spades}{6-Clubs}
Seiver {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}

The {7-Hearts}{5-Spades}{3-Spades} flop favored MacPhee, but the turn gave him pause as the {J-Spades} fell, giving Seiver the nut flush draw. He filled it on the river with the {7-Spades} and Seiver took down the pot, eliminating MacPhee. Seiver is up to 265,500 in chips.
