Scotty Baby

The action has been pretty slow so far after the break, but it's always nice to report something on 1998 World Series of Poker Main Event champion Scotty Nguyen. Baby.

We just caught the action on a {A-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} flop when Nguyen was heads up, baby.

Nguyen check-called a bet on the flop and on the turn, the {K-Diamonds}, and river, the {2-Hearts}, the action went check-check, baby.

"Ace-jack baby," Nguyen announced before he flipped up his {A-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{6-Hearts}. His opponent mucked and with a small smile Nguyen raked in the pot. Scotty Nguyen is up to 29,000 chips and still in the running for his second Omaha hi/lo bracelet after he won this event during the 2001 World Series of Poker.

Another Pot For Ivey, and a Woody for Davis

Phil Ivey's having fun today
Phil Ivey's having fun today

We stumbled upon some action over at Table 451 and it seemed as Vanessa Selbst had limped under the gun and Phil Ivey, who was to her direct left, put in a raise to 3,000. The player on the button called and Selbst also invested the extra chips.

The flop came down {Q-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{3-Spades} and Selbst checked to Ivey who bet and got called by only the button. The turn was the {8-Spades} and the button called another bet. On the river the {A-Spades} popped up and Ivey silently tossed in another 3,000. His opponent gave it some thought, but couldn't make the call giving Ivey another pot.

We walked back to our desk to write up this hand but forgot to get a count of Vanessa Selbst's stack. We jumped back onto the floor and just missed the end of a chopped pot between the North American Poker Tour, World Series of Poker and Partouch Poker Tour winner and Raymond Davis. Davis already has a final table at this years WSOP finishing eight in the $1,500 Omaha hi/lo tournament cashing $24,111.

"I got excited when I saw that club," Selbst said to Davis after they both got their money back.

"I got excited when you raised, I got a woody," Davis replied instantly.

Phil Ivey started laughing and said, "What's wrong with you," after which the whole table failed to keep a straight face.

We almost forgot to count Selbst's stack with all this fun going on, but she and Ivey are right around the same stack. For all you poker fans out there, this table is right on the rail in the blue section of the Amazon Room. Make sure to come check it out!

Big One For Bellande

Jean-Robert Bellande
Jean-Robert Bellande

Jean-Robert Bellande announced last week that he will be playing in the One Million Drop event and he's doing pretty well in this event so far.

We just saw Scott Bohlman limp after which Bellande made it 3,000 to go from the cutoff. Elie Doft called from the button and Bohlman also proceeded to make the call.

The flop came down {10-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} and Bohlman checked to Bellande who bet, Doft folded and Bohlman check-raised. Bellande called and the turn was the {9-Hearts}. Bohlman bet 3,000 and Bellande put out 6,000 after which we saw heads up river action.

The river was the {2-Spades} and Bellande saw another one of his bets getting called. "That was just an unreal board for my hand," Bellande said as he turned over his {A-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{4-Spades} for a full house. On the turn Bellande also had the nut flush and nut low draw but he didn't need those in order to win this pot. Bellande is up to 84,000 chips and doing very well.

Bohlman, on the other hand, has taken a hit down to about 15,000.
