Boat for Cajelais

Jennifer Harman called preflop from middle position and Eric Cajelais called from the small blind. The flop fell {8-Spades} {8-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} and Eric led out. Harman made it two bets and Eric called, with the turn bringing the {8-Diamonds}. Eric bet the turn and Harman called. The {K-Clubs} fell on the river and both players checked, with Eric turning over pocket jacks for a full house and Harman mucked.

Uh...What?

The TVs that were showing the final holes of the U.S. Open are now tuned to Game 5 of the Celtics-Lakers series.

No chance that this'll distract any of the players. No chance at all.

The Biggest Cheer of the Series

Came when Tiger Woods snuck in his birdie putt on 18 to force a playoff with Rocco Mediate. Players gathered around TVs all over the Amazon Room jumped to their feet and shouted and cheered as Woods pumped his fist in triumph. Players are standing in the aisles talking about the putt and watching replay after replay.

In other news, there's a poker tournament going on here. Hopefully the folks playing in it will start to take notice.

More Late Arrivals

Gary Benson and Steve Zolotow have just arrived and are taking their seats. We're also up to 188 entrants, 69 entries away from matching last year's total.

A Bit Distracted...

This is a $10,000 World Championship event but quite a few of the players are more interested right now in the U.S. Open, where Tiger Woods is trying to tie Rocco Mediate on the 18th-hole. There are two big-screen TVs showing the final round and more eyes seem focused on Tiger than the cards.

More Entries, More Late Arrivals

We've had several professional players arrive a little late so far today, as well as many new entrants. We started the event just shy of 130 entries and we're already up to 168. We originally started playing seven-handed, but as more and more players sign up, more seats are filled. Currently, most tables are playing nine-handed.

Long Way to Go..

Players have started the day with 20,000 in chips, meaning it will take quite awhile for our first bust-out to take place today. The blinds started at 100/200, giving each player one hundred big blinds to start the event off. Even though the field is small, it's still likely to be a long, long event.
