Antonius vs. Grigg

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Patrik Antonius opened for 3,000 under the gun and cleared the field all the way around to Tom Grigg in the big blind. He defended and then checked dark headed to the {Q-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} flop. Antonius checked behind and then called when Grigg bet 2,600 on the {7-Clubs} turn. Grigg fired again on the {A-Spades} river, this time for 5,600, and Antonius snap-called.

"Queen," Grigg said, but before he could turn over his hand Antonius tabled the winning {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}. Despite winning that pot, Antonius is down since the last time we checked in with him.

Nice Timing By Guerin

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Didier Guerin just won a pot that more than doubled his stack. We walked up to the table as the dealer ran out the board, and Guerin explained to us what happened after he managed to dodge the outs of both his opponents.

The player under the gun raised to 2,500 and his neighbor moved all in for around 18,000 chips. The action was folded to Guerin who moved all in from the cutoff for 75,200 chips. The button decided to make the call and the initial raiser folded.

Guerin: {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}
Button: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}
UTG+1: {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades}

The board ran out {10-Clubs}{9-Spades}{2-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and Guerin raked in a massive pot. He's now up to around 170,000 chips.

A Few Hands From Table 37

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Stevan Chew led out for 6,600 on a board of {q-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}, and Matthew Ginn called in position. The river was the {10-Diamonds}, Chew led out again - this time for 15,200 - and Ginn quickly called.

Chew turned over {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts} for a set of tens, and Ginn showed {j-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} for a straight.

The very next hand, Ginn opened to 2,600 in late position. Stephen Chidwick three-bet to 6,500 on the button, and Micah Raskin cold-called in the big blind. Ginn called as well, and the flop fell {6-Spades}{4-Hearts}{8-Hearts}. Raskin checked, Ginn fired 8,000, and both Chidwick and Raskin called.

The turn was the {9-Diamonds}, all three players checked, and the {9-Clubs} completed the board. Raskin led out for 16,500, Ginn folded, and Chidwick called. Raskin showed {3-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} for nines and threes, but Chidwick had that beat with {j-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for nines and eights.

Rusnak Gets Paid

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Frank Rusnak, the Day 1b chip leader, just jumped up to the top three overall in the Main Event. Jan Suchanek kicked things off with a raise to 3,200 from the cutoff and the player on the button called. Rusnak was seated in the small blind and three-bet to 10,500. Both Suchanek and the other player called.

The flop brought out {Q-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} and Rusnak checked to Suchanek who bet 21,000. The third player folded and Rusnak made the call.

On the turn the {6-Clubs} hit and both players checked.

The river brought out the {6-Diamonds} and this time Rusnak put out a bet worth 38,300. Suchanek went into the tank for a while before verbally declaring, "Call".

Rusnak turned over {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} and Suchanek sat motionless for about three seconds after mucking his hand.

"You still need to pay," Rusnak said with a smile after which Suchanek put together to chips to pay off his debt.

Do Anh and Obst Play a Weird One

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
James Obst (Day 1a)
James Obst (Day 1a)

Hoang Do Anh and James Obst were heads up on a flop of {3-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{a-Hearts}. Do Anh checked, Obst bet, and Do Anh check-raised to 34,000. Obst made the call, but thinking he raised, Do Anh moved all in.

Play was stopped at this point, and the floor was called. Obst thought that it was like betting in the dark, and Do Anh should be all in, but the floor ruled that it was no bet. The dealer burned and turned the {3-Spades}. Do Anh checked, Obst tossed out what looked like 15,000, and Do Anh called.

The river was the {9-Clubs}, both players checked, and Obst showed {a-}{q-}. Do Anh mucked his cards.
