666 Spells Lake of Fire for Ludo

:(
:(
Freddy Deeb raised to 32,000 under the gun and Ludovic Lacay, fallen on relatively hard times, pushed all in. A wall of random railers swarmed the table, and then leaned in further when Deeb made the call.

Deeb: {6-Hearts} {6-Spades}
Lacay: very ahead with {8-Hearts} {8-Diamonds}

Board: {5-Diamonds} {2-Spades} {6-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} {7-Diamonds}

"Nice hand," said Lacay with just the barest trace of disappointment audible, and off he went.

Cescut it Out

Hugo Lemaire opened for 31,000 under the gun, but Guillaume Cescut to his immediate left shoved for a shade over 200,000. It folded back around to Lemaire, who disappeared into the tank for some minutes, checking his hole cards repeatedly in case they had magically turned into something else.

Then he called.

Cescut: {J-Spades} {J-Diamonds}
Lemaire: {K-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs}

Board: {10-Hearts} {K-Hearts} {10-Clubs} {4-Hearts} {3-Clubs}

Cescut down in his prime.

Lame puns aside, Cescut is bust.

The Timex is Now

Timex
Timex
Mike "Timex" McDonald opened the pot with a raise, and Christian Debeil three-bet him out of position. McDonald flatted, and the two men watched the flop come out {3-Hearts} {5-Spades} {6-Diamonds}. After a check from Debeil, McDonald slid out a bet of 70,000. His opponent decided to check-shove all in for more than 400,000 total, and McDonald couldn't have called any quicker.

Showdown
McDonald: {6-Spades} {6-Hearts}
Debeil: {A-Clubs} {5-Hearts}

Uh oh. Debeil was not in good shape at all, and it was he who was slightly covered by McDonald. The board filled out with the {Q-Spades} and {9-Hearts}, and the dealer counted down the stacks before ordering Debeil to the ropes.

Courtesy of that massive pot (the largest of the tournament so far), Debeil is out, and McDonald is now challenging for the chip lead with just about 1.3 million chips.

Ladies Night

Lucille Cailly
Lucille Cailly
There was just an eruption of cheering from the back of the room, where three tables remain in this afternoon's ladies event. The women have been cheering every time one of the men playing in the event is eliminated. Six non-ladies played in the tournament, which the tournament director announced could not legally restrict registration by gender. The women have now finished off all but one of the men.

Speaking of ladies, let's check in with the three remaining in the main event. Scratch that. Two ladies remaining. Lucille Cailly was eliminated moments ago when her {K-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} didn't get there against George Secara's {A-Diamonds} {K-Spades}.

Alexia Portal is still in and kicking some tail. Today she's built her stack from a starting point of 136,500 to 430,000. Marine la Bernardie just doubled up to 300,000.

Timex Out-Aggressed

Mike "Timex" McDonald, looking very much the part in some awesomely reflective shades, opened for 27,000. However, Javed Abrahams - who looks slightly less the part and seems to be smiling vaguely to himself all the time - re-popped for 75,000.

A moment of expressionless dwelling from Timex...

...And a slightly disappointing fold.

No Messing for Nemeth

Dario Minieri opened for 27,000 in early position and popular Dutchman Armijn Meijer flatted on the button. Small blind Andras Nemeth, however, had other plans. He made it 90,000, and like dominoes, everyone folded.

Mr. Meijer, by the way, is beginning to look just a trifle short, on 200,000 or so - that's less than half the average.

Minieri Moves On

Did not last longer.
Did not last longer.
A preflop raising war resulted in Dario Minieri getting all in with {A-Spades} {K-Hearts}. He may have been content to flip for a double up, or he may have thought he was well ahead, but neither was the case for the diminutive Team PokerStars Pro. Andras Nemeth was his would-be knocker-out, and he tabled a very troubling {A-Hearts} {A-Diamonds}.

The board ran out blank, and Minieri was drawing dead by the turn: {6-Hearts} {4-Spades} {Q-Hearts} {J-Clubs} {Q-Spades}. Unable to get over the hump, Minieri has been eliminated.

Nemeth, on the other hand, appears to have taken over the chip lead with about 1.45 million.

Marine No Fish

Michael Fratty raised to 20,000 and Hugo Lemaire flatted behind. Over to Marine la Bernardie in the big blind, who pushed all in for perhaps 140,000. Fratty reshoved, Lemaire ducked out of the way, and they were on their backs.

Fratty: {7-Clubs} {7-Hearts}
La Bernardie: {K-Spades} {K-Diamonds}

Board: an unthreatening {A-Spades} {2-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} {10-Spades} {2-Spades}

Ms. la Bernardie enjoyed an easy double up, and is on around 300,000.

High and Mighty

Freddy Deeb
Freddy Deeb
The High Rollers event is running in the back of the main tournament room, and the floor staff just announced that registration will end in two minutes.

"Bruno, they're talking to you!" Freddy Deeb shouted across several tables to Mr. Fitoussi. "Hurry up. You've got two minutes!" Deeb changed his mind though, suggesting instead that Fitoussi save his money. "You should last at least five more minutes here. Don't even play aces."

Jean-Robert Bellande, who is playing in the event, came over to visit Deeb and suggested that Freddy buy a piece of him. Deeb declined politely, explaining that after several bad experiences he had sworn never to stake anyone.
