Ivey Increasing

Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey is starting to dangerously sneak up the chip count leaderboard. We received word that he recently took down a big pot off Allen Kessler who held a king-high flush but Ivey trapped with a well hidden full house to move up to around 45,000 chips.

Raymer Busts Forrest

Ted Forrest had the last of his money in on fifth street against Greg Raymer with the boards running out as follows:

Raymer: ({Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}) {4-Spades}{10-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{A-Spades} ({8-Clubs})
Forrest: ({6-Clubs}{A-Hearts}) {J-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{K-Clubs} ({8-Spades})

Forrest could only make a pair of jacks which were unable to overcome the queens and fours of Raymer, to eliminate Forrest from today's event. Raymer now sits with a mountain of chips in front of him totalling over 55,000.

Negreanu Surges

Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu
Rob Hollink fired out a bet on fourth street showing {K-Diamonds}{3-Spades} and Daniel Negreanu made the call with {9-Spades}{10-Diamonds}.

On fifth street Negreanu paired up with the {10-Clubs} and fired out a bet which Hollink called with the {7-Diamonds}.

On sixth street Negreanu bet out again with the {K-Spades} and Hollink raised after catching the {Q-Clubs}. Negreanu then threee-bet and Hollink went into the tank. After spending several minutes in deep thought he eventually laid down his hand asking, "Are you rolled-up?" and sure enough, Negreanu flashed {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} for rolled-up nines which had made a full house on fifth street.

A few minutes later Negreanu amazingly found himself with another rolled-up hand, this time with tens. He then spiked a fourth ten to give him quads as his opponent got away from the action.

With a nice run of cards Negreanu now finds himself with the tournament chip leaders with about 50,000 in chips.

Thing Beginning to Get Interesting

We should start to see many more bust-outs over the next couple of levels as the betting levels become a larger percentage of the starting-stack size. By level 8, bets on fifth through seventh street will represent 10 percent of the original starting-stack size.
