Final Table Action

Event 30 Final Table
Event 30 Final Table

Drew “dudeguydrew” O’Connell began the final table with just over a single big blind, so it was no surprise to see him fall in the very first hand. Not long after, the short-stacked James “Danfriel” Gilbert got shoved his last five bigs from the small blind with ten-five only to have Joshua “Kenjiboi7” Faris call with ace-nine from the big. Gilbert failed to get lucky and had to settle for a fifth-place finish.

Before the level concluded, two-time bracelet winner Nipun “javatini” Java bowed out after three-bet jamming the big blind with ace-deuce suited only to see Halverson, who had raised from the button, call with pocket tens. A third ten on the turn sent Java out the door in fourth place.

Next to go was WSOP bracelet winner Anthony "Nowb3Athat" Spinella, who was coolered after flopping two pair jacks and sevens only to see Faris roll over a bigger two pair jacks and nines.

That allowed Faris to take a 3:2 chip lead into heads-up play against Halverson, but on the very first hand between the two the latter won a race to double. The duo battled back-and-forth for a little bit before the final hand in which Faris got it in with top pair of aces with a queen kicker, which was no good against the two pair nines and eights of Halverson.

The 2021 WSOP Online continues on Friday with Event #31: $500 NLH Summer Saver. PokerNews will be live reporting and streaming the action, so be sure to join us then.

Joshua "Kenjiboi7" Faris Eliminated in 2nd Place ($51,965)

Level 38 : 60,000/120,000, 15,000 ante

Mitchell "franzia" Halverson limped-in on the button and then called the 442,500 raise from Joshua "Kenjiboi7" Faris.

The {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} flop was checked by both players bringing the {9-Diamonds} turn. Faris led out for 332,000 and Halverson called to see the {4-Clubs} complete the board on the river.

Faris led out for 675,000 and then called off his 2,916,236 stack after Halverson raised all in for 11,153,764.

Joshua "Kenjiboi7" Faris: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}
Mitchell "franzia" Halverson: {9-Clubs}{8-Hearts}

Faris flopped his ace but Halverson turned two-pair to win the pot along with his first WSOP bracelet while Faris took home $51,965 for second place.

Level 38 : 60,000/120,000, 15,000 ante
Anthony Spinella

Joshua "Kenjiboi7" Faris completed from the small blind and Anthony "Nowb3Athat" Spinella checked his option to see a flop.

The flop was {7-Spades}{j-Spades}{9-Hearts} and Faris checked. Spinella bet 142,500 and Faris check-raised to 450,000. Spinella went all in for 2,473,170 and Faris called.

Anthony "Nowb3Athat" Spinella: {j-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}
Joshua "Kenjiboi7" Faris: {j-Hearts}{9-Spades}

Faris had the higher two pair and a {q-Diamonds} turn was no help to Spinella. The {2-Spades} river sealed the deal and Spinella was eliminated in third place.

Nipun "javatini" Java: {a-Clubs}{2-Clubs}
Mitchell "franzia" Halverson: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}

Java was behind and didn't get any help from the {7-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} flop.

The {10-Hearts} turn was even worse for Java as it left him drawing dead and the {j-Diamonds} river ended his tournament.

James "Danfriel" Gilbert: {5-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}
Joshua "Kenjiboi7" Faris: {9-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}

Gilbert was behind and fell even more so when the {5-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{a-Spades} flop paired Faris. The {4-Spades} turn was a brick for Gilbert and so was the {6-Hearts} river to end his run in fifth place.

Drew "dudeguydrew" O'Connell open jammed from the button for 118,170 as the final table got underway. Joshua "Kenjiboi7" Faris and Nipun "javatini" Java both called and O'Connell had the opportunity for a triple-up.

The board was {a-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{k-Spades}{8-Hearts}, which Java and Faris checked all the way down to the river. Faris showed {k-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} for a pair of kings to beat O'Connell's {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} and the mucked hand of Java.
