Cheating Alleged at Top Vegas Casino Via Dealer/Player "Relationship"
A woman at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino faces six gambling-related cheating charges after allegedly conspiring with a dealer she was in a "relationship" with.
Yuk Wong, 42, now faces five counts of cheating at a gambling game and one further charge of attempting or conspiring to cheat at a gambling game after a warrant for her arrest was issued by the Nevada Gaming Control Board last year.
Wong had successfully avoided facing the charges until cops pulled her over for driving with an expired registration on May 15th and subsequently learned of the arrest warrant.
As reported by Yahoo News, the cheating allegations date back to last year, when the accused was said to have conspired with a dealer at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino on the popular casino poker game "I Luv Suits Poker".
"I Luv Suits Poker" sees players attempt to achieve a flush (a hand of playing cards in which all are the same suit) with more cards than the dealer. Additionally, the game offers side bets to players so inclined with Flush Rush and Super Flush Rush bonuses, offering the possibility of more substantial payouts.
Flushing Out the Truth
An investigation began after a call from the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino alerted the board to potential collusion between Wong and the unnamed dealer.
Far from rigging the deck or a more sophisticated method of cheating, the Nevada Gaming Control Board alleges the dealer, whom agents said Wong knew, “fraudulent[ly] paid Wong for losing hands.”
Further inquiries then revealed a Facebook "relationship" between the two accused, suggesting an association that went well beyond that of dealer and anonymous casino patron.
Additional claims of evidence from investigators include surveillance camera footage from one session that appears to show “numerous fraudulent hands” at the casino poker table.
In one particular hand, agents claimed Wong raked in over three figures of profit despite having lost. Overall, there are seventeen separate instances of cheating alleged, and it is unclear how much money in total Wong and the dealer are accused of defrauding.
As per Yahoo News, Wong informed investigators that "she had seen [the dealer] previously and likes to gamble at games he is dealing because he helps her understand the game and helps her win.”
During all hands that Wong fraudulently concealed a faulty flush, she fraudulently placed the card so that it is hidden in the middle of her hand.
The investigators, meanwhile, told the court that "during all hands that Wong fraudulently concealed a faulty flush, she fraudulently placed the card so that it is hidden in the middle of her hand,” thereby cheating the casino.
Wong will now return to court next month to face the accusations on June 18th, while it is unclear what will happen to the dealer she was in a "relationship" with.
