Two Chances to Reach Day 2 at the 2019 888poker LIVE Festival London £1,100 Main Event

Aspers Casino London
Aspers Casino London

The 888poker LIVE Festival London takes place for the fourth time and the flagship £1,100 Main Event at the Aspers Casino at the Westfield Stratford in London comes with a guaranteed prize pool of £500,000, the winner also takes home a package for the 2020 World Series of Poker Main Event in Las Vegas worth $12,500.

Since 2015, the Aspers Casino has been a fixture on the yearly 888poker LIVE schedule for the Local Series and Main Event. Previous champions include Ka Li in 2016, Tom Hall in 2017 and James Williams in 2018.

One year ago, cash game specialist Williams topped a field of 656 entries and defeated Derek Lawless in heads-up to secure the biggest slice of the £649,440 prize pool, banking a payday of £121,000 and a package for the 2019 WSOP Main Event in Las Vegas.

Hall and Lawless already entered yesterday's first flight which attracted a total of 58 entries but they were not among the 13 survivors. Of the 888poker ambassadors, only Martin Jacobson jumped into the action after busting before the money £2,200 High Roller and made it through to Day 2 with 60,000.

Fellow 888poker ambassadors Sofia Lovgren, Vivian Saliba, £2,200 High Roller champion Chris Moorman, Kara Scott, and Ana Marquez are all expected to join in one of the remaining flights within the next two days. There are five starting days in total and all of them play 11 levels on their respective flight.

The first four starting days feature levels of 40 minutes each while the turbo heat 1e is the only one with a level duration of 20 minutes. As of Day 2, the blind levels increase to 60 minutes each until the conclusion of the tournament. The tournament also features the popular big blind ante format and a 30-second shot clock with four 30 time bank extensions per day is in play for the entirety.

Schechter Will Be Back

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante
Sofia Lovgren
Sofia Lovgren

Alexander Schechter left the table as he was just knocked out by Sofia Lovgren, who had called his shove with the {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}. Schechter only had king-ten and was drawing dead on the turn of the {j-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{6-Spades}{4-Hearts} board.

Schechter promised to be back for more, though.

Da-Silva Runs Into Kings

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante
Chris Da-Silva
Chris Da-Silva

Artan Dedusha limped first to act and Yimin Yang raised it up to 1,300 from two seats over. Chris Da-Silva called in the small blind and George Demetriou raised to 5,000 from the big blind. Dedusha and Yang folded and Da-Silva shipped it in for 27,000, Demetriou quickly called.

Chris Da-Silva: {q-Spades}{j-Spades}
George Demetriou: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}

The {6-Clubs}{6-Spades}{2-Spades} flop was a sweat but the {5-Clubs} turn and {8-Diamonds} river brought no upset.

"I folded queens!" Yang exclaimed in table chat.

Kanji Busts to Lovgren

Level 4 : 200/300, 300 ante
Sofia Lovgren
Sofia Lovgren

Aleem Kanji got his last 18,000 in after a three-way flop of {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{q-Clubs} and tabled the {a-Hearts}{2-Hearts} for the nut flush draw while Sofia Lovgren had him crushed with {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} for the flopped full house.

"I folded ace-queen," Kanan Farzaliyev said as the board completed with the {2-Diamonds} turn and {5-Diamonds} river.

One year ago, Kanji made it all the way to the final table on which he finished 6th.

Dedusha Eliminated by Demetriou

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante
Artan Dedusha
Artan Dedusha

Yimin Yang had won a bigger pot off George Demetriou and the latter claimed those chips back by sending Artan Dedusha to the rail.

Dedusha was at risk with {a-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} versus {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts} and found no help on a board of {q-Spades}{10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}, which gave Demetriou a full house.

Winstone Busts Sapiano

Level 6 : 300/500, 500 ante
Albert Sapiano
Albert Sapiano

Robert "Bobby" James had taken a piece of the stack of Albert Sapiano but it was Tom Winstone that dealt the final blow in spectacular fashion. They got it in after the {7-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{a-Clubs} turn and Sapiano was ahead with {a-Spades}{2-Diamonds} for two pair, as Winstone only held the {a-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} for a pair and gutshot.

Winstone needed a four, five or seven to score the knockout and he did so thanks to the {7-Clubs} river.

"So sick," Sapiano said on his way to the rail as the 22,100 of Winstone had him covered.

Ramlal Basdeo
Ramlal Basdeo

Ramlal Basdeo check-called a bet by Yimin Yang on the {q-Clubs}{10-Spades}{2-Clubs} flop and check-raised the {6-Hearts} turn to quickly call the shove of Yang.

Basdeo was miles ahead with {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} versus {q-}{9-} and had already locked up the double for 78,800 by the time the meaningless {8-Hearts} fell on the river.

Schechter Busts Patel and Deveson

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Alexander Schechter
Alexander Schechter

The all-in showdowns in the final level keep on coming as Sanjay Patel and Max Deveson just busted to Alexander Schechter.

Patel was all in for around 30,000 and Deveson jammed the cutoff for 55,800. Schechter in the small blind asked for a count and called.

Sanjay Patel: {k-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}
Max Deveson: {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts}
Alexander Schechter: {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}

The board came {8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{2-Spades}{j-Spades}{7-Spades} and that sent all the chips to Schechter.
