No Food for You

The cameras continue to hover around Eric Assadourian's table. Tony Hachem is standing on the rail chatting with Assadourian as the cameras lap it all up. Otherwise, it's been somewat quiet since we got back from break. A small lunch buffet is set up right outside the tournament area, but the combination of a short (ten-minute) break and rules precluding players from bringing food into the tournament area have conspired to prevent a proper lunch for many players.

Chips Flying Around

Tony Dunst has doubled up at Jakub Dylewski's expense. Dunst opened for 600 preflop before Dylewski raised to 2,000. Dunst promptly shoved for 5,150 and Dylewski made the call. They found themselves in a race, Dunst's {J-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} against Dylewski's {A-Spades} {Q-Clubs}. An eight-high board ensured the pot went Dunst's way.

Shortly thereafter, the newly short-stacked Dylewski pushed all in for 4,450 after Guray Turkay raised to 550 preflop. Turkay called and tabled {K-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds}. Dylewski showed {A-Hearts} {9-Hearts} and won the pot with ace-high.

Dunst now has about 10,500, while Dylewski has about 9,200.

Assadourian Hollywoods A Chop

Eric Assadourian
Eric Assadourian
In a limped pot, four players saw a flop of {10-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{K-Spades}. Eric Assadourian led out for 400 from the small blind and the big blind made the call. The action was then with Robert Dobbs who made it 1,300 to go. The player in the cutoff folded but Assadourian made the call as the big blind stepped aside.

The turn was the {3-Spades} and Assadourian checked to Dobbs who fired 1,500. Assadourian then moved all in for 7,200 and Dobbs made the call.

Assadourian flipped {Q-Clubs}{9-Hearts} for the straight but Dobbs held the same hand with his {Q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}!

"I did the Hollywood and everything!" said Assadourian as the river bricked and the players chopped it up!

Turkay's Third Pair is Good

Guray Turkay
Guray Turkay
Three players paid 750 each in a raised pot to take a flop of {4-Clubs} {K-Clubs} {10-Spades}. After one check, a player in middle position made it 1,700 to go and was called only by the button player, Guray Turkay. The turn was the {4-Diamonds}. Turkay's opponent led out for 3,500, and again Turkay called. On the {J-Spades} river, Turkay's opponent shoved for 4,000. Turkay snap-called with {A-Clubs} {10-Hearts}, for third pair with top kicker. His opponent just mucked and got up from the table.

Turkay now has about 27,500.

Josh Pang Ang Eliminated

Chun Jung Hee opened with a raise to 550 and Josh Pang Ang made the call. The flop came down {3-Clubs}{3-Spades}{4-Clubs} and Hee led out for 1,000. Ang bumped it up to 1,500 and Hee called.

The turn was the {J-Spades} and Hee checked to Ang who moved all in for his last 4,100. Hee tanked for a long time before he again made the call and tabled {7-Clubs}{7-Spades} to hold the lead over Ang's {2-Clubs}{2-Spades}.

The river was the {Q-Spades} to send Ang to the rail as Hee recovers some chips to be back to 19,600.

Aces, Aces Everywhere

Andrew Meldrum is out. Short of chips, he pushed all in preflop with pocket nines and ran into another player's pocket aces. That player promptly flopped a full house, {A-?} {5-?} {5-?}. There was no miracle of running fives or running nines for Meldrum.

Sam Faqiryar also took a small hit to his stack. He got all in preflop with pocket jacks against a short stack who turned over pocket aces. Aces held up to lower Faqiryar's stack to about 28,000.

Backwards Progress for Juanda

John Juanda
John Juanda
John Juanda has been quietly chipping up through the first three levels of play but recently lost some ground. He bet 1,200 on a flop of {5-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} and was called by the button. Both players checked the turn when it came {Q-Clubs}. The river was another Broadway card -- the {A-Spades}. Juanda bet 2,400, but had to let his hand go when the button raised to 6,000.

Despite this loss, Juanda still has 17,500.

Timex Can't Beat Rivered Top Pair

Three players were in a recent pot at Michael "Timex" McDonald's table. With the board showing {6-Hearts} {3-Spades} {K-Clubs} {J-Clubs}, the big blind checked. A player in middle position made it 1,200 to go, a bet which McDonald called. The big blind then check-raised up to 4,500, folding the middle position player. McDonald again called.

Both players checked when the river fell {A-Hearts}. The big blind showed {A-Clubs} {2-Clubs} for top pair, enough to take down the pot. McDonald slipped back to 10,000 after the hand was over.

Lin Wouldn't Lie

Celina Lin
Celina Lin
On a board of {2-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{4-Spades}{Q-Spades}{10-Hearts} and with 1,600 already in the pot, Celina Lin fired out 750 into the middle and her opponent let it go.

"Were you going to call with ace-high?" quizzed Lin.

Her opponent quietly nodded in acknowledgment.

"It would've been a chopped pot then...would I be the type to lie?" giggled Lin.

"Never!" replied her opponent with a sly grin.

Lin is now up to 15,300 in chips.
