The Rich Get Richer

Edmonds Out In Front
Edmonds Out In Front
Brendan Edmonds has extended his chip lead after calling the all in shove of his opponent preflop. Edmonds held {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts} as his opponent was making a move with {3-Spades}{4-Spades}. The board filled out {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{A-Spades}{2-Spades} to jump Edmonds up to 372,000.

Meanwhile Antonio Fazzolari is also adding to his massive stack after the elimination of Chris Levick. They got it in on a ten-high flop with Levick's {Q-?}{10-?} out-kicked by the {K-?}{10-?} of Fazzolari. The turn and river bricked out and Fazzolari is up to 335,000.

Runner-Runner? Always "Funner".

To the all in player, a win's a win, but we imagine that even Robert Bechara found this one a bit dirty. He reraised all in over the top of an open-shove from a short stack sitting on 23,900. Bechara's isolation move worked, leaving Bechara and his opponent alone going into the flop. Bechara showed {A-Diamonds} {K-Clubs} against his opponent's pocket fives. The flop hit them both, {10-Spades} {5-Clubs} {A-Hearts}, but Bechara went runner-runner {J-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} to make a Broadway straight and knock out his opponent.

We imagine that, if Craig Marquis is reading, he just winced in shared pain with Bechara's opponent.

Break Time

Players are on a ten-minute break, but the black (100) chips are being raced at this break, so it may run slightly long.

Play Resumes

Cards are back in the air. Is this the last level of the day? Most likely not. We'll see how things shape up as the bubble approaches, but it seems likely we'll at least start playing Level 15 tonight.

Tank City for Pickering and Lind

It started as a simple pot that George Lind raised preflop and Jamie Pickering called out of the big blind. The two men took a flop of {J-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} {5-Hearts}. Pickering was first to act and checked to Lind, who bet 8,000. After a short period of deliberation, Pickering check-raised to 18,000. That put Lind in the tank before he reraised to 33,000. Pickering four-bet it after over a minute in the tank, making it 58,000 to go. Lind tanked again, but this time he let it go.

Pickering is up to 325,000 in chips.

Lackovic Avoids Elimination Again

'I open-shoved without looking," explained Petar Lackovic as the dealer chopped a pot between Lackovic and Jason Gray. "Keep raising my blinds." The board read {K-Spades} {7-Spades} {8-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} {7-Hearts}. Each player had an ace -- Lackovic showing {A-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} and Gray showing {A-Hearts} {Q-Spades}.

Gray did not seem amused by Lackovic's explanation.

Sansi Eliminates Another But Receives Warning

Manish Sansi has just eliminated a short-stacked opponent. He held {A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} to be in a dominant position against his opponent's {A-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}. However the board was complete overkill when it arrived {5-Clubs}{J-Spades}{10-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{J-Hearts} to make Sansi quads! He's now up to 160,000.

Shortly after this hand Sansi was given a warning by Tournament Director Danny McDonagh. It appears that Sansi may have been stalling as we approach the money bubble. McDonagh made it perfectly clear that all players had been given sufficient warning and if the stalling continued then he would only have ten seconds to act on every hand.

Quads Again?

We've seen enough quads during the course of this tournament to last a whole month of online play. Tony Basile was the latest beneficiary, flopping quad sevens and slowplaying them to perfection. When his opponent moved all in on the river, Basile made the easy call. He's up to 230,000 in chips.
