Gill Gets the Best of Assadourian

Carter Gill
Carter Gill
The feature table is providing its fair share of action. Carter Gill opened a recent pot to 2,200 and was called by three players, including Eric Assadourian. Action checked to Gill on a flop of {7-Spades} {5-Clubs} {7-Diamonds}. His bet of 4,700 was called only by Assadourian.

Both players checked the {3-Spades} turn. When the river fell {K-Hearts}, Assadourian checked a third time, then called a bet of 9,500 from Gill. Gill showed {Q-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} for the winner. He's up to 59,000.

Scott's Stack Shrinks Some More, Then Evaporates

Things have gone from bad to worse for Andrew Scott. Down to 14,700, he found himself in a race with an opponent whose stack was even shorter than his. Scott was ahead preflop with {7-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} against his opponent's {A-Clubs} {J-Diamonds}, but in second place by the river on a board of {10-Hearts} {J-Clubs} {2-Spades} {9-Spades} {K-Spades}. He had a mere 5,700 chips left in his stack.

Scott put the rest of his stack in a few hands later with pocket threes. He was called by {A-?}{10-?} and lost his second race in as many tries. He's out.

Nelson No More

Lee Nelson eliminated
Lee Nelson eliminated
One of the feature players of this tournament, Team PokerStars Pro Lee Nelson has been eliminated.

Nelson held pocket kings but ran into the pocket aces of Martin Rowe in a preflop confrontation. The board bricked out and Nelson was sent to the rail as Rowe is now up to 138,000 chips.

Ma Rewarded for the Right Call

Zhi Hong Ma on Day 1
Zhi Hong Ma on Day 1
With 9,000 in the pot preflop, Zhi Hong Ma led out on a flop of {6-Spades} {Q-Hearts} {8-Diamonds}. His opponent, who had him covered, moved all in.

Ma stood up from his chair and leaned over the table, thinking carefully through his decision. His opponent had Ma covered, so if he called he would be the one at risk of elimination. He did elect to call after about a minute of thought, tabling pocket kings. His opponent showed {J-Spades} {9-Spades} and promptly picked up a flush draw with the {8-Spades} turn. The river, however, was a harmless-to-Ma {5-Diamonds}. Ma doubled up and now has approximately 97,000 chips in his stack.

Khoueis Doubles with Quads

Suzy Khoueis has been short most of the day. Being on a table with the likes of Eric Assadourian, Lee Nelson and Carter Gill surely can't make her task any less daunting. She moved all in preflop with {K-Diamonds} {K-Clubs} and was in great shape against an opponent's pocket deuces. The flop took away any uncertainty as to how the hand would end. Khoueis flopped quads, {5-?} {K-Hearts} {K-Spades}. The rest of the board came {A-Clubs} {4-Diamonds}.

A Gentleman's Agreement

Robert Bechara and Jimmy Wong certainly seem to respect each other. Wong was the first person to raise in a hand the two played, making it 4,200 to go. Bechara reraised to 13,500 before Wong shoved all in for a total of 110,000. Both players stood up as Bechara considered his action.

"Do you want me to call?" Bechara asked Wong.

"If you want to keep playing, you should fold," Wong replied.

After some further chit-chat and more thought by Bechara, both men shook hands and agreed to fold their hands face-up. Bechara went first, surrendering his claim to the pot and showing {A-?}{K-?}. Wong then showed pocket kings as he dragged the pot.

Edmonds Cracks Aces With Broadway

Brendan Edmonds
Brendan Edmonds
Brendan Edmonds raised from late position to 4,500 before the cutoff player made it 10,000 to go. The table folded back to Edmonds, who moved all in with his opponent insta-calling.

Edmonds held {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} but had run into the {A-Spades}{A-Clubs} of his opponent. However, incredibly the board fell {2-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} and Edmonds made Broadway on the river! He's now up to 87,000 chips.

Sanis Closes in on Chip Leaders

David Sanis and Vince Ha went to war on a flop of {Q-Hearts}{J-Spades}{6-Spades} with Sanis holding {A-Spades}{K-Spades} for a huge combo draw against the set of Ha holding {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs}.

The turn fell the {10-Spades} to give Sanis the flush but Ha still had outs to the full house. However the river bricked the {3-Hearts} to eliminate Ha as Sanis is now amongst the chip leaders with 180,000 chips.
