Fan Picks Bad Time to Try to Take Out Clark

Danny McDonaugh helps Kevin Clark with some chip confusion
Danny McDonaugh helps Kevin Clark with some chip confusion
In a battle of the blinds, the chips were all in preflop for small blind Terry Fan and big blind Kevin Clark. Clark was the player at risk of elimination, but he had the best hand with {A-Diamonds} {K-Clubs}. Fan could only muster up {K-Spades} {3-Diamonds}, which was not the winner on a board of {Q-Spades} {2-Spades} {2-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds}. There was some confusion counting down Clark's stack, but it was eventually correctly counted down at 116,500. Double that amount now.

One Over Is Fine

Preflop, Sim Somyung open shoved from the cutoff to 100,000 and was called by David Hilton in the small blind.

Somyung: {10-Hearts}{q-Hearts}
Hilton: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}

The flop came {7-Spades}{2-Hearts}{2-Spades}, which was no help to Somyung. The turn {q-Diamonds} was a different story though, moving him into the lead in the hand.

The river {j-Diamonds} changed nothing, leaving Somyung to move up to around 210,000.

Fan Wins a Race

Dong-bin Han is not afraid to gamble -- as Terry Fan just found out. Han opened with a standard raise before Fan moved all in for another 125,500. Han opted to call with {Q-Clubs} {J-Clubs} and found himself racing Fan's {9-Spades} {9-Hearts} He lost the race, {5-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} {5-Clubs} {A-Diamonds}.

"The first time I scream -- WOO!" shouted Fan after the hand. "I usually don't get excited. Wow. I can't believe I won the race."

Winning the race pushed Fan up to about 300,000 in chips.

Bansuan Bags A Big One

Allih Bansuan has doubled through Alexandr Tikholiz.

Preflop, Jojo Tech opened from the hijack to 37,000 with Bansuan calling from the cutoff. Action was then on Tikholiz who made it 100,000 to go from the button. Tech went into the tank for several minutes, before smashing his cards onto the table in aggravation, as he folded.

After Tech made the fold, Bansuan went into the tank and after while announced that he was all in for 232,500.

Tikholiz instantly made the call and tabled {A-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}. While Bansuan rolled over his {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}. The board ran out {Q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{5-Spades}{7-Clubs}{4-Spades} to move Bansuan over 600,000. Tikholiz is down to 420,000.

Flops Endangered

We're not sure who put flops on the endangered species list or why they did, but something needs to be done. The feature table hasn't seen a flop in twenty minutes and the outer tables aren't much better. It's an odd place for play to have tightened up like this, but that's where we are. Stuck on twenty players with nobody seemingly interested in trying to take out anybody else.

No Laughing Matter

Joe Ker
Joe Ker
Preflop, Joe Ker made an opening raise and Jojo Tech came over the top with a three-bet to 58,000. Ker, after some thought four-bet all in for another 125,000 more.

After taking the time to count down the stacks and sitting in the tank for what seemed forever Tech eventually made the call and tabled {k-Spades}{4-Hearts} much to the bemusement of the crowd.

Ker would be in a commanding position with his {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} and it would stay that with the board running out {k-Clubs}{7-Spades}{10-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{3-Spades}.

Ker now has 386,000.

Some Action!

A couple of double-ups to report. Over on the feature table, we found our first flop in half an hour. Nick Pronk was all in with pocket nines and called by Rody Kaka. Unfortunately the action was so quick and silent (and the feature table a short walk from the outer table) that we didn't see Kaka's hand. But we did see the board -- {6-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {2-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {J-Clubs}. Pronk's stack was counted down at 207,000. He now has about 420,000 while Kaka is crippled to 80,000.

Immediately after, on the outer tables, Jojo Tech doubled a very small stack with pocket queens. Joe Ker tried to take him out with {J-?} {7-?} but it was a no-go on a board of {10-Clubs} {j-Diamonds} {k-Hearts} {6-Hearts} {A-Diamonds}.
