Verheijen Runs Into Aces

Mike Watson just brought us up to speed with a recent elimination. Gijs Verheijen has been knocked out as he ran into pocket aces. The Dutch pro moved all in for just over 30,000 chips with pocket eights after someone had raised, and the player to his left called. Aidan Tam showed {A-}{A-} and took down this pot bumping his stack up to 132,000.

Tan Gives One Up

Jay Tan, who was interviewed by our own Lynn Gilmartin on the previous break which you can watch below, just lost a pot after folding on the river.

Tan raised it up to 3,600 and Marcus Lau called from the big blind. The flop came down {A-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{2-Hearts} and both players checked. On the turn the {3-Clubs} hit and Lau check-called 4,000. On the river the {9-Hearts} showed up and Lau fired out 8,500. Tan went into the tank for about 30 seconds before she decided to fold.

Lau still has plenty of room to play, but she's well below the average stack.

In the following interview, Jay discusses her recovery from a nasty hand to finish Day 2, and seeing that she's a regular to this town, her favorite places to eat in Macau:

Watson Wins with a Pair of Eights

On the {8-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{2-Spades} flop, Mike Watson checked over to Edmund Lee. Lee fired 5,500, and Watson made the call to see the turn.

The {9-Hearts} was added to the board on fourth street, and Watson checked again. Lee fired 8,000, and Watson called.

The river was the {3-Spades}, and both players checked.

Lee tabled the {K-Clubs}{J-Spades} for king high, but Watson's {8-Clubs}{4-Clubs} was better with a pair of eights, and he won the pot.

The 2010 Champ Loses Some Chips To Jeon

From under the gun, Xing Zhou opened with a raise to 4,000. In the next seat, 2010 PokerStars.net APPT Macau Main Event champion Victorino Torres called, then Seungsoo Jeon called from the cutoff seat. Everyone else folded, and the dealer ran out the {A-Spades}{8-Hearts}{8-Clubs} flop.

On the flop, Zhou, Torres and Jeon checked to see the {K-Spades} fall on the turn. After Zhou and Torres checked, Jeon bet 8,000. Zhou folded, then Torres check-raised to 18,500. Jeon called after taking some time to think.

The river was the {10-Diamonds}, and both Torres and Jeon checked.

Torres shook his head as he tabled the {J-Diamonds}{10-Spades} for two pair, tens and eights. Jeon had him beat with the {A-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for a better two pair, and he won the pot.

Gaw Gets Some Chips Back from Sass

Andrew Gaw bet 10,400 on the {6-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} flop, and Alan Sass made the call. Earlier, the two played a massive pot with aces versus kings that vaulted Sass into the chip lead.

The turn was the {2-Spades}, and Gaw checked. Sass checked behind to see the {3-Hearts} land on the river. Gaw bet 18,000, and Sass made the call.

Gaw showed the {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} for two pair, queens and fours, and Sass mucked his hand.

Byrraju Picks Off Huge Bluff

Rahul Byrraju just manifested himself as one of the favorites with 43 players remaining in the tournament after picking off a huge bluff. It all started when Byrraju raised it up to 4,000 preflop. Two players called among which Aidan Tam in the big blind.

The flop came down {3-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{4-Hearts} and the action was checked around. On the turn the {10-Hearts} hit and Tam lead out for 5,600. Both Byrraju and the third player made the call.

On the river the {K-Spades} showed up and Tam checked. Byrraju fired out 19,500 and the third player decided to call. The action was now back on Tam who decided to check-raise all in for 110,700. Byrraju gave it some thought and ended up making the call. The third player folded instantly after that.

Byrraju quickly turned over his {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}, and the dealer showed Tam's {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}.

"I play so bad," Tam sighed as he made his way to the exit. Byrraju is doing very well and makes his way into the top five.

Tan Knocked Out

Jay Tan
Jay Tan

Jay Tan did not have a good level, and it ended up resulting in her elimination. We heard that she moved all in over a raise and Marcus Lau called her shove with {A-}{K-}. Tan turned over {9-}{9-} and failed to dodge both the ace and the king. The ace popped up on the flop, and the king on the river sealed the deal.
