Lisandro Eliminated

Short-stacked, Jeff Lisandro shoved his last 4,100 into the middle from the small blind, holding {8-Hearts}{9-Hearts}. A player who had limped in from under the gun made the call and tabled two black fives.

The {A-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} flop severely diminished Lisandro's chances of winning the pot, and the {4-Clubs} on the turn locked it up, sending Lisandro to the rail about 20 minutes before the dinner break.

Scotty Wins a Pot Before Dinner

Holding pocket nines, Scotty Nguyen flopped gin when the first three cards off the deck came {5-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}. His opponent led into him with a 2,200 bet and Scotty just called. The turn brought the {5-Diamonds}, giving Scotty a boat and this time his opponent bet 4,000 - again, Scotty just called.

The {3-Spades} fell off on fifth street and the first action was passed to Scotty, who fired a 5,100 bullet. His opponent gave up on the hand, at which point Scotty flashed his pocket nines saying, "What are you doing, Baby? You want to just give me your chips?"

Monsour Matloubi Eliminated

Does the name ring a bell? For all of you poker aficionados out there, it should. Matloubi won the 1990 WSOP Main Event, besting Hans 'Tuna' Lund in a memorable heads-up match to take home $835,000 in prize money. Matloubi had quite a run in the early nineties, finishing 4th in the 1993 main event, and 16th one year later.

Matloubi has just been eliminated from the APPT Macau main event, after losing a coinflip to Aaron Schumacher holding {A-Clubs}{K-Spades} against Schumacher's {J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}. Schumacher made a full house when the flop came {7-Hearts}{J-Spades}{7-Spades}, and that was all she wrote for the former WSOP champ.

Matloubi's elimination leaves us with two former WSOP champions, Joe Hachem ('05) and Scotty Nguyen ('98).

Happy Birthday Jeannie Hachem!

The tournament staff just took a brief moment to wish Jeannie Hachem (Joe's wife) a happy birthday. Jeannie was presented with a delicious looking chocolate cake, fully lit with candles, while tournament director Matt Savage led the room in singing Happy Birthday.
