Aces Cracked

Level 3 : 150/300, 0 ante

Zhenjian Lin opened the action from middle position with a bet of 800. It folded to Yu Xia, in the small blind, who made the call as did Wei-chuan Hsu from the big.

The flop came {8-Clubs}{9-Spades}{9-Hearts} and Xia led for 1,700. Hsu made the call and Lin raised to 4,000. Having both her opponents covered, Xia didn't hesitate to announce "all in". Hsu followed by moving his chips into the middle as did Lin.

The hands looked like this:
Xia: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}
Hsu: {j-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}
Lin: {9-Clubs}{4-Clubs}

The {8-Diamonds} turn came to give both Lin and Hsu a full house. The {j-Diamonds} river then fell, giving Hsu a better full house, the pot and eliminating Lin from the tournament.

We happened upon the table just as PokerStars Team Pro Bryan Huang was faced with a 1,600 river bet and the board showing {2-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{6-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}. The bet gave him pause and he eventually made the call showing {j-Hearts}{q-Clubs}. His opponent was sliding his cards into the muck when Huang talked him into showing and he turned over {k-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}.

Huang is playing solid and gathering intel proving he is a force to be reckoned with.

A Limp-Raise Gets It Done

Level 3 : 150/300, 0 ante

Zhao Feng called the big bling of 300 from UTG. Action folded around to Quan Zhou, in middle position. While Zhou was thinking, Leo Damien Kwan put 1,000 into the middle out of turn. Zhou then raised to 1,100. Kwan pulled his chips back and the dealer told him it needed to stay. Other players started getting into the discussion and the floor was called.

The situation was explained and the floor went to get another supervisor. The ruling came down that since the raise of Zhou changed the action, Kwan could take his chips back and have all options open to him. He was also told if he did it again, he would receive a penalty. Kwan retrieved his chips and folded.

There were still a few people to act but only Yan Cai, the big blind, made the call. Play was now back to Feng, who originally limped, and took advantage of the situation and reraised to 3,500 which prompted a fold from everyone.

Young Drops A Few

Kim Gap Young
Kim Gap Young

Kim Gap Young opened the pot with a bet of 625 from under the gun and was called by the player to his left as well as the player in the small blind.

The flop came down {2-Spades}{10-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and the small blind checked. Young threw out a continuation bet of 1,625 which was called, as the {7-Hearts} fell on the turn.

This time the player in the small blind reached for his chips, before placing out 2,300. Young made the call as both watched the {K-Hearts} complete the board. Another bet of 3,400 from the small blind sent Young into the tank, which was eventually called a few minutes later.

Young's cards flew into the muck when his opponent tabled his {q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} which was good enough to take down the pot.

Kerrigan Eliminates Warner

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

Ashley Warner raised to 600 from UTG which prompted pretty much the entire table to play. With 4 players calling Warner's raise, Tyrone Kerrigan made it 3,100 from the big blind. After a little thinking, Warner moved all in for 14,500. It folded back to Kerrigan who made the call.

Kerrigan: {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}
Warner: {K-Clubs}{k-Spades}

It was the ace on the river that ended Warner's hope of the trophy when the board ran out {8-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}. Kerrigan is now sitting with about double his starting stack.

With such a good start today, Zheng will be hoping to make another deep run in this years event.
