Six Figures and a Shout Out

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Tony Romanelli has run up a six-figure stack in the first dozen levels of Event 13: $300 Deeper-Stack NLHE. Instead of focusing on his quest to win a couple thousand dollars, Romanelli is more focused on sending a shoutout to his lovely wife.

"Can you tell me wife Rhonda I said hi?" he asked our reporter. "Oh, and that I've nearly tripled my stack."

Dem Ace Magnets

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

During our most recent tour of the room we saw pocket Kings lose on three separate occasions to a weak Ace that hit. As one player (who was one of the unfortunate ones holding Kings) best put it "freakin' Kings. Every time an Ace hits. 'dem Ace magnets."

A player opened to 8,000 on the button, Laurence Wolf moved all in for 29,300 from the big blind, and his opponent tank-called.

Wolf: {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}
Opponent: {k-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

Wolf, who finished runner-up in the 2014 Borgata Spring Poker Open Championship Event, was in great shape to double with his wired pair, and held as the flop, turn, and river came {2-Spades}{8-Spades}{8-Clubs}{7-Spades}{a-Hearts}.

He now sits with 65,000 chips.

Armando Then - Eliminated
Armando Then - Eliminated

Armando Then was all in and at risk with {k-Hearts}{k-Spades} on a flop of {j-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}. Unfortunately for him, James Boyle had him in rough shape with {a-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}, and the turn and river bricked {8-Spades}, {5-Clubs} respectively.

Then hit the rail, while Boyle is up to 110,000 chips.

Wheeling and Dealing

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

Faced with an open to 7,100, Mike Franklin moved all in for 26,300 near the button. The action folded back to the original raiser, who tank-called.

"You're probably good," Franklin said, showing {a-Hearts}{2-Hearts}.

Franklin was the one who was actually good - his opponent tabled {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs} - but the {3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} flop gave the player a leading pair of queens. Franklin added four more outs to make a wheel when the turn brought the {5-Diamonds}, and he completed said wheel draw as the {4-Hearts} completed the board.

Franklin doubled to 55,000 chips.
