Field Thinning Fast

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

The pace of play has picked up here in Event #23 and the field is thinning fast. We are down to the final five tables and Jean Gaspard has yet to relinquish his chip lead.

Quad Nines for Dicrecchio

Level 22 : 15,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Patrick Dicrecchio
Patrick Dicrecchio

The player in middle position raised to 55,000 and Patrick Dicrecchio called from the button. The small blind moved all in for 90,000 and Norman Rodriguez called from the big blind. The middle position player called and Dicrecchio came along.

They saw a flop of {9-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} and it checked to the middle position player who bet 175,000. Dicrecchio put his last 149,000 in the pot and Rodriguez got out of the way.

Patrick Dicrecchio: {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}
Small Blind: {q-Clubs}{q-Spades}
Middle Position: {j-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

Dicrecchio top set was in great shape but the {q-Hearts} hit the turn improving the small blind to top set leaving Dicrecchio drawing to the last nine in the deck.

The {9-Spades} hit the river and the table erupted as Dicrecchio spiked his one outer to earn the knockout in dramatic fashion.

Platis Pulls Over a Million Before Break

Level 22 : 15,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Nikolaos Platis
Nikolaos Platis

For the first time tonight we have a new chip leader as Norman Rodriguez has inched past Jean Gaspard. They're not alone at the top however as Nikolaos Platis has quietly been building a monster stack.

Platis is now playing 1,100,000 and he's sharing the felt with Gaspard so there's plenty of potential for a massive pot if these big stacks elect to clash.

The players are now on a 15-minute color up break and we'll pick back up on the live tournament action when play resumes.

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Leo Kaz has been mixing it up in plenty of pots and it's paying off. Kaz just scooped a massive pot and he is the first player over two million with 2,300,000.

Just 29 players remain and the camera shy Kaz has taken the lead for the first time tonight.
