"God I Love Poker" - Gwinner's Sick Five-Bet

Henrik Gwinner
Henrik Gwinner
Antonio Esfandiari opened the action with a raise to 3,400 which was flat-called by a player in late position. Henrik Gwinner then squeezed both players, making it another 10,200 to go. Esfandiari folded before the player in late position who, after flat-calling the previous bet, decided to now reraise the action again, increasing the bet amount by an additional 20,000 in chips.

"Wow," said Gwinner before going into the tank. Both players were deep-stacked, and with over 30,000 in the pot already, it was a tournament make-or-break decision for the T6 Poker representative.

After several minutes of deep thought to build the suspense, Gwinner gathered his stacks of chips together and slid them into the middle in declaration that he was all in! "God I Love Poker!" came the cry from Esfandiari, as the media contingent swarmed the table in anticipation.

This five-bet pre-flop was an additional 55,000 to his opponent and represented the majority of his stack. He thought for a moment, shrugged and reluctantly tossed his cards into the muck.

Gwinner then flipped over his hand - a jaw-dropping {A-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} - much to the disgust of his opponent and the shock of the rest of the table.

A world-class, and somewhat sick, move by Gwinner has elevated his stack to around 125,000 in chips!

Gwinner Runs Another Huge Bluff!

The all-action table of Henrik Gwinner and Antonio Esfandiari has delivered once again, with Gwinner pulling off another huge bluff.

Gwinner opened the action with a raise from the cutoff to 3,300 and Esfandiari popped it up from the small blind to 13,600. Gwinner made the call and the two took a flop of {K-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}. Both players checked and saw a free card of {3-Diamonds} on the turn. This time Esfandiari led out with a bet of 15,800. Gwinner thought for a long time before making the call.

The river landed the {7-Diamonds} and Esfandiari checked. Gwinner deliberated over his decision so long that Esfandiari questioned whether he realised the action was on him. Eventually Gwinner obliged with a 18,000 bet. Esfandiari insta-folded and Gwinner scooped another large pot.

After the hand Gwinner quipped that Esfandiari had nothing, to which he replied that he had folded a pair of queens. "Go on, show the bluff..." urged Esfandiari and Gwinner delivered once again, flashing {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts} for another massive bluff!

Gwinner is steamrolling the table and now has over 170,000 in chips!

Barry Greenstein Eliminated

Barry Busto
Barry Busto
Barry Greenstein pushed the last of his short stack into the middle holding {J-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} and the unstoppable Henrik Gwinner made the call with pocket threes.

The board ran out {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{10-Spades}{5-Hearts} and as always, Barry Greenstein signed a copy of his book "Ace on the River" and handed it to his conqueror before exiting the tournament floor.

Chad Brown Eliminated

Chad Brown got the rest of his chips in with J-8 on a jack-high flop, but unfortunately ran into the pocket kings of fellow PokerStars pro Joe Hachem. Looks like his fiance Vanessa Rousso wins that last-longer bet ... though she's down to only about 24,000 in chips.

Our new chip leader is young Norwegian player Oyvind Riisem, who is currently sitting on 286,000 in chips. Though he hasn't been playing on the circuit for long, the 22-year old's name might be familiar to those of you who followed our coverage of the WSOP-Europe, where he finished fourth in the Main Event for a £257,020 payday.

Ed de Haas Likes Quads

Ed de Haas
Ed de Haas
Holding quad eights, gentle giant Ed de Haas extracted the rest of his opponent's chips on the river with the board reading {A-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}. The poor chap made two pair with his A-10 on the river and coudn't get away from it.

de Haas is now up to 80,000.

Gus Hansen Eliminated

Gus Hansen has just lost all of his chips over the course of two hands. In the first hand we caught the action with the board reading {7-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} and Hansen facing a 20,000-chip decision from a young opponent. Hansen seemed confused and stated that he simply couldn't put his opponent on a hand before making a call. The answer was a set of deuces, which was too good for Hansen's holding.

Two hands later and Hansen found himself in the big blind holding {A-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}, facing a raise from the same opponent. With only 5,300 behind once his blind was in the middle, Hansen decided to go with the hand. His opponent made a pot-committed call with {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} and we were off to the races.

Unfortunately for Hansen, it was a short race as the door card revealed the {8-Hearts} to all but end his hopes. The board ran out {8-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and Hansen was eliminated from today's field.
