Lusso Races Out

The preflop action isn't 100% clear, but from the way the action progressed, it appears that Roberto Masullo limped in under the gun. That much isn't certain, but what is certain is that Alessandro Lusso moved all in with his short stack in late position, committing his final ~45,000 to the pot. In the small blind, Apo Arslan moved all in himself, and that was enough to fold Masullo. With Lusso now at risk, the cards were on their backs:

Lusso: {6-Hearts} {6-Diamonds}
Arslan: {A-Clubs} {Q-Clubs}

Lusso would have the flop as it came out {A-Spades} {9-Diamonds} {3-Clubs}. The at-risk Italian threw his hands up into the air, seemingly confounded that he could lose this race. There were still two cards to come, but the {8-Hearts} and {10-Spades} that filled out the board did nothing to improve his plight. Lusso's day is done.

Another One Out

Maksim Semisoshenko is the most recent victim of Day 3. We didn't see what his final hand was, but whatever it was, it wasn't as good as Manuel Bevand's {A-Spades} {A-Clubs}. The board ran {9-Hearts} {K-Hearts} {J-Clubs} {K-Clubs} {A-Diamonds}. The dealer mucked the losing hand before we caught a glimpse of it, but it apparently wasn't pocket kings, because Semisoshenko wished his table luck and headed off to the payout desk.

That puts Bevand right into the mix of the chip leaders with just shy of 700,000.

Yanpolskiy Doubles

Jerome Zerbib raised and Boris Yanpolskiy shoved behind. Everyone folded, although Michael Ginzburg in the big blind held on to his cards so that after Zerbib had called he could show the table that he'd folded {A-?} {K-?}.

Zerbib: {9-Clubs} {9-Diamonds}
Yanpolskiy: {A-Spades} {J-Clubs}

Board: {7-Clubs} {A-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} {10-Hearts}

Double up. Ginzburg made a little creaking noise in his throat for the nuts that might have been.

'Naud Joy for Mattern

Arnaud Mattern
Arnaud Mattern
Eyal Avitan raised from the cutoff, only for Arnaud Mattern to reraise from the button. Avitan called, and they saw a {J-Hearts} {9-Clubs} {10-Hearts} flop, which Avitan checked.

Mattern, who incidentally has finally located some croissants (he's been looking for some since Day 1), bet 45,500. Avitan thought long and hard, and then called.

The turn was the {K-Spades} and this time Avitan check-called 82,500, before checking the {K-Diamonds} river as well. Mattern bet 86,000, and Avitan tanked up for a worryingly long time before calling and flipping over {A-Hearts} {J-Spades} - and the muck from Mattern meant that he was right.

A few hands later and Avitan raised to 18,000. Mattern shoved for his last 132,000 and Luca Pagano, by the by, folded {A-?} {K-?}. Avitan called with {A-?} {10-?}, Mattern's {K-?} {Q-?} failed to improve, and he is out of here.
