Kelopuro Wants to Play for All the Marbles; Settles for the Pot

We're not sure how so many chips made it into the pot in a hand between Sami Kelopuro and one other player. All we saw was that there were three red (T1,000) chips in front of Kelopuro's opponent. His response was to move all in for 11,450 total chips. It was a very strong bet for such a small board and gave Kelopuro's opponent cause for thought. Eventually it also gave him cause to fold, allowing Kelopuro to take the pot and increase his count to 17,500.

Rosario Bows Out

A very unlucky day has come to an end for Shirley Rosario. After losing a huge chunk of her stack earlier with pocket aces, then building back up to about 7,000, Rosario found herself all in holding pocket kings. Her opponent tabled pocket queens, but managed to connect with a four-flush that hit the board. That bit of unluckiness eliminated Rosario from the tournament.

Serock in a Hard Place

Joseph Serock is down to 4,000. Some, but not all, of the damage seems to have been done in a blind-on-blind confrontation. Eventually Serock in the small blind laid it down to a 2,000 bet from the big blind on the river of the {10-Hearts} {4-Hearts} {9-Spades} {K-Hearts} {6-Spades} board.

Endangered and Extinct Species

Dan Shak's table was broken a while ago and we haven't been able to find him. That doesn't mean he's not out there somewhere, but with each sweep of the room it becomes less likely.

Other recently-vacated seats at tables that haven't broken: Voitto Rintala and the reigning world champ, Peter Eastgate.

Tabatabai Gets the Chop

Donev - folded the best hand
Donev - folded the best hand
Just before the break, John Tabatabai and his remaining 3,000 pushed from the button to a raise. "And you have...?" inquired his opponent. "I can't bluff you," replied Tabatabai, "I don't have the chips."

After some brief pretending that they both had aces, the opponent called and they were on their backs.

Tabatabai: {A-Hearts} {Q-Clubs}
Opponent: {A-Diamonds} {Q-Spades}
Ivo Donev: "Oh no! I folded the best hand!"

Board: {2-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} {6-Clubs}

Chop, chop, and Tabatabai stays in.
