Luyanda Doubles

Felipe Luyanda
Felipe Luyanda
PokerStars online qualifier Felipe Luyanda was down to about 12,000 before he stuck it all in with {J-Hearts} {J-Clubs}. A player at his table looked him up with {A-?} {K-?} and the covering stack.

The board ran out nicely for the all-in player, coming {10-Diamonds} {J-Spades} {3-Hearts} {A-Hearts} {8-Hearts}. With that double up, Luyanda's back around 26,000 now.

Umberto Drops Further

If you remember from earlier, [Removed:40] was once the chip leader with over 80,000 chips. Since then, it's been a steady slide down for Vitagliano. Just recently, the board was {J-Clubs} {J-Spades} {3-Clubs} {A-Spades} and two players checked to Vitagliano. He fired 1,300 and was called by both his opponents.

The river completed the board with the {J-Hearts}. The first player, Oskar Lind, checked as did the next player. Vitagliano fired out 3,600 this time. Only Lind made the call. Immediately after the other player mucked, Vitagliano mucked his hand and Lind scooped the pot without having to show. Vitagliano is down to 25,000 chips.

Top Set + Overpair = Huge Pot

On a flop of {8-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} {4-Hearts}, Gianni Giaroni checked being first to act. Viotto Rintala checked as well and action fell on the third player in the hand, Corneliu Cretu, fired 2,425. Giaroni called before Rintala raised to 6,425. Cretu made the call and then Giaroni moved all of his chips into the middle.

"Here we go." announced Rintala as he slid his hand, not his chips, into the middle of the table. Cretu then tanked. Giaroni was all in for a total of 32,200. Eventually, Cretu made the call and tabled {K-Hearts} {K-Spades}. Giaroni was in the lead with top set -- {8-Clubs} {8-Spades}.

The turn added some flush outs for Cretu when the {2-Hearts} fell, but after the {A-Diamonds} hit the river, he was still second best. He shipped the chips over to Giaroni and dropped to 14,000. Giaroni moved up to over 70,000.

Vive La France

Michel Abecassis
Michel Abecassis
It was a French duel at one of the far table moments ago as Andre Dos Santos and Michel Abecassis tangled up in a heads-up pot.

With the flop showing {9-Hearts} {2-Hearts} {9-Clubs}, Dos Santos put out a bet of what looked like 2,100. Abecassis didn't waste much time calling, and the turn brought the {K-Spades}. Dos Santos would fire another bullet of 6,525 chips, and Abecassis came right along once more.

On the river {Q-Hearts}, both players checked, and Abecassis tabled {8-Hearts} {8-Spades}. It was the winner; Dos Santos tapped the felt and returned his cards to the muck.

Dos Santos has slipped to about 42,000 now, while Abecassis moves up to 36,000.

Friendly Fire

First into the pot from the small blind, Arnaud Mattern opened with a raise to 1,800. His big blind was fellow-Frenchman Andre Dos Santos, and he three-bet it up to 4,000 straight. Mattern considered for a long while before flicking in the call.

The flop came down {9-Spades} {3-Clubs} {A-Hearts}, and Mattern checked. Dos Santos instantly moved all in, and Mattern's cards were already in the muck. He's down to 17,000, and Dos Santos has about the same now.

At Least He Didn't Pay the Full Buy-in...

Matej Cepon - Out
Matej Cepon - Out
Matej Cepon is one of the PokerStars qualifiers in the field today, and his tournament has not been going well to this point. In his most recent hand, Cepon came into the pot with a raise to 1,700 from middle position, and Antoanell Judet moved all in a few seats over. The table folded back to Cepon, and he could only shake his head. Down to his last 8,000 chips or so, Cepon reluctantly slid them into the middle with a shrug.

Showdown
Cepon: {A-Clubs} {10-Clubs}
Judet: {J-Hearts} {J-Clubs}

The board ran {6-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} {Q-Spades} {10-Diamonds} {4-Clubs}, which was not at all helpful for the all-in player. Failing to get over the hump, Cepon has been eliminated.

Action Flop for Hedlund and Dovzhenko

Peter Hedlund raised from the cutoff to 1,600. Alexander Dovzhenko was on the button and reraised to 4,500. Hedlund made the call after clarifying how much the raise was for.

Immediately after the {K-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} {J-Hearts} flop hit the felt, Hedlund moved all in. Dovzhenko was right there with the call and just like that we had a massive pot.

Hedlund tabled {10-Hearts} {8-Hearts} for a combo draw. Dovzhenko held top set with {K-Hearts} {K-Spades}.

The turn was the {6-Hearts}, giving Hedlund his flush, but it was far from over. Dovzhenko still had a chance to hit a full house or a higher flush on the river.

The river landed the {J-Clubs}, pairing the board. Hedlund smashed his fist on the table knowing that he went from behind to ahead to behind. "I knew it." he said, "I should have f***** checked, I had a feeling!"

Dovzhenko was all in for 23,100 total and Hedlund shipped over the chips. He dropped to 42,000 while Dovzhenko bounced up to 55,000.
