Kitai Can't Call

Davidi Kitai ponders the call
Davidi Kitai ponders the call
We walked up to Davidi Kitai's table to see him considering a big decision. The board read {2-Clubs} {K-Spades} {8-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds}, and there was about 18,000 already in the pot.

Kitai was facing a bet of 12,000, valued at more than half of his remaining stack. He asked his opponent if he'd show, and there was no response. Finally, the Belgian pro reluctantly folded, leaving himself 22,000 chips for a better spot.

Sarwer Shoots Up the Board

A huge pot developed at the corner-most table, and we joined the action to see a flop of {Q-Spades} {J-Hearts} {9-Spades} out on board. Most of the action had already taken place, and there were at least 125,000 chips already heaped in the middle of the table. Jeff Sarwer's 46,000 remaining chips were out in front of his betting line, and Corneliu Cretu was in the tank with the covering stack.

The decision would take a solid five to seven minutes as Sarwer sat motionless. Cretu finally kicked in his cards, and Sarwer exhaled as if he hadn't taken a breath during that entire tank time. He's still stacking up those chips, but it looks like he'll be well over 200,000 after that biggest pot of the tournament so far.

It's the Carter Phillips Show

Carter Phillips
Carter Phillips
Luca Pagano checked a flop of {A-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} to Carter Phillips. Phillips fired 10,100 into a pot of over 18,000. Pagano made the call.

The turn brought he {7-Diamonds}. Pagano checked again after this fourth diamond fell. Phillips checked behind.

The river was the {5-Spades} and Pagano checked once more. Phillips grabbed some chips and bet out 16,500. Pagano squirmed in his seat as he contemplated what to do.

After about a minute, the silence broke when Pagano asked, "You got jacks?" Phillips didn't move or respond to the comment. "Show me two jacks." Pagano then continued to say as he spun his hand into the muck.

"I got two red cards." replied Phillips, showing {Q-Hearts} {10-Hearts} to the table for a bluff.

Phillips now has an astounding 350,000 chips while Pagano dropped to 50,000.

Oh No! Orpe Departs

The charming EPT Presenter, Michelle Orpe, has just been sent to the rail, and she was kind enough to give us the details of her demise.

On the first of this two-hand saga, Orpe opened the pot with pocket aces and found no action. She was quite displeased with that result.

On the very next hand, she found {A-?} {K-?} and open-raised from the button. The big blind came along to the flop of {Q-?} {9-?} {5-?}. He checked, and Orpe's continuation bet was quickly called.

The turn gave her a pair with a second {K-?}, and she moved all in for her remaining 12,000. After some debate, her opponent called to put her at risk, turning over {Q-?} {J-?}. She was ahead, but a drastic {10-?} on the river would fill in the gutshot straight to send her off to the roulette tables.

The turn brought the {2-Hearts} and Minieri checked again. Nguyen fired 7,000 and Minieri quickly folded. Scotty is now up to 70,000. Minieri fell back a little to 67,000.

Drexel Eliminated By Lellouche

Antony Lellouche raised to 2,500 before Thor Drexel reraised to 6,900. Lellouche made the call and the flop came down {5-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} {4-Clubs}.

Lellouche checked and Drexel fired 6,600. Lellouche then stuck out a bunch of chips to put Drexel all in. Drexel made the call for his remaining 25,000 or so holding {A-Diamonds} {K-Spades}. Lellouche held {9-Diamonds} {9-Clubs}.

The turn was the {8-Hearts} and the river the {7-Spades}. Drexel was unable to improve and was sent to the rail. Lellouche now is back over the century mark with 106,000 chips.
