Adam Comes First

Much-needed injection of chips to stack just now for American Adam Wilks, who had just dipped beneath the 20k mark (19,300 to be precise) and found an open spot to get it in preflop. Cutoff Adam Jerney, however, immediately called, and the big blind Erik Friberg joined in the pot.

Flop: {8-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{5-Spades}. Jerney now announced, "All in," for over 110k - Friberg covered him but declined to call. Heads up vs. the all-in Wilks now and Jerney showed {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} vs. {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}. Looking for an ace or a gutshot, his prayers were answered in the form of a {7-Hearts} directly on the turn and no further hearts but the echoing {7-Spades} on the river.

Wilkes is still under the average (which is now 81k) but has a lot more play as there's still nearly an hour left of the 800/1,600/200 level.

The News in Brief

Giacomo Maisto lays down his hand to a 25k bet on the river from Nikita Malinovskiy - they'd built a pot of over 80k already when the river {A-Clubs} joined the {3-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} board. Maisto, looking perturbed, gave it up.

Alessio de Cesare doubles up to over 100k, his {A-Spades}{K-Spades} making a flush.

Charles Combes gets his trips paid off on the river by Thomas Leeb, betting 17,200 on a {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{A-Hearts} board and showing down a winning {J-Clubs}{10-Hearts}.

Tom Dwan raises preflop to isolate the all-in Tarek-Karim Riester, who held {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts} vs. Dwan's {A-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}. An ace appeared on the flop, but so did the {7-Spades} and Dwan loses a few of the chips he's made so far today.

Top of the Popsz

There was around 40,000 already in the pot when we arrived on the turn of the {k-Spades}{9-Clubs}{4-Spades}{j-Spades} board. It looked as though Szymon Pieszczoch - the young man who was second in chips going into the day, and who would score very well in Scrabble - had bet out 23,500. Yuriy Nesterenko had raised to 55,000 and was sitting back in his chair, gazing around the room (things of note to see - a press member brazenly flouting the no-flash rule; also a tourist having his photo taken with Boris Becker), so he didn't notice Pieszczoch going all in for 144,200 in total.

Eventually Nesterenko registered the bold move, which would put him all in. He stacked and restacked his remaining chips - around 80,000 of them - but eventually folded. Pieszczoch is now back near the top of the chip counts, on around 240,000.

New Danger Table

Martin Hruby has been shifted into the secondary ballroom on to a table which is now groaning under the weight of three 200k+ stacks. One of them is newly created - Sergey Rybachenko, who has been patient with an average/less than average stack for a long time, but played this hand with Dmytro Samoilenko as if they were both on two-second decision timers:

Heads up to a flop of {5-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} and there was nothing special about this pot yet. Rybachenko (the preflop raiser) bet out 5,100. Samoilenko raised to 13,000 and before you could blink twice a big stack of yellow 5k chips had slid out in front of Rybachenko and it was "All-in/Call" moments later.

Rybachenko: {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}
Samoilenko: {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}

There was just a twinge of disappointment from Samoilenko as the turn and river rolled out {5-Spades}{A-Hearts} to bust him, while Rybachenko remained impassive, stacking up a healthy 200k.

The other biggies on the table:

Jose Severino - 240,000
Martin Hruby - 300,000

Heading for the Felt

Luke Schwartz - hit the bottle
Luke Schwartz - hit the bottle

People who do not have as many chips as they probably should right now include:

- Laurence Houghton - after smacking pocket tens into aces early in the day, he managed to smack jacks into aces a little later on and is now down to 45,000.

- Tom Dwan - managed to lose two coinflips in quick succession; both times his opponent made a set and Dwan is down to 48,000. Curiously, the number of railers he has seems to be directly proportional to the size of his stack, and the annoying crowd that previously encircled his table has now almost completely dispersed.

- Pieter de Korver - we're actually not sure what happened to him, but he's down to 23,000.

Meanwhile in other news, Luke Schwartz has got a T100 chip stuck in a bottle top and cannot get it out. It represents actually a decent proportion of his current 28,000 stack, so if anyone has a knife or some other wedging device, please send it to Table Schwartz.

Table 20 Update

Over at table 20 Richard Gryko has just added 35,000 to his stack by eliminating Daniel Dodet when his {a-Spades} {q-Clubs} beat the unfortunate Dodet's {a-Diamonds} {k-Clubs} after the lady appeared on the flop. Gryko then found another hand immediately after and opened in early position for 3,500. Morten Erlandsen was lurking on the button and three-bet Gryko to the tune of 8,300. Gryko made the call and the dealer gave us a flop of {4-Diamonds} {4-Spades} {3-Clubs}. Gryko quietly checked, so quietly in fact that Erlandsen didn't hear it and asked him if he had checked. Gryko acknowledged that he had and Erlandsen bet 7,500 and Gryko folded.

Erlandsen in seat 6 now has a stack of ~ 110,500, Sergii Baranov sat in seat 2 has a stack of ~ 198,000, Brian Green in seat 4 has a stack of ~27,200 and Richard Gryko in seat 3 has a stack of ~95,000

Tom Dwan Has Been Eliminated

No EPT Title yet
No EPT Title yet

One of the worlds greatest players will have to wait a little while longer before he can add EPT glory to his CV. Tom Dwan has been eliminated from EPT Vienna after what has been a very frustrating morning for the young American.

We did not see the actual hand play out but have been informed that it went down as follows. The play was three-handed going to the flop of {a-}{x-}{x-} and all three players checked. The turn was a {5-} and Stavros Kalfas made a bet of around 10,000 into a pot of 14,000 and Dwan moved all in and Kalfas made the call. Dwan held {a-} {2-} and Kalfas {a-} {j-} and eliminated Dwan with his kicker.

He is Having One Eiler of a Time

Young Pokerstars Online Qualifier Michael Eiler is having some serious fun over at table 3 this morning. Not only did he crush Dwan's Kings with a set of three's earlier but he also won a number of pots from Dwan with some aggressive pre flop three-betting as well. We caught up with a critical hand just before the break that once again involved Michael Eiler.

We caught the action with almost everyone else at the break and two solitary players left on table 3. The board was {8-Hearts} {3-Spades} {j-Diamonds} and Eiler who was in the Small Blind had a bet of 14,600 in front of him and his opponent Nikita Malinovskiy had a raise of 30,000 laid out in front of him. Malinovskiy had over ~100,00 behind and Eiler had just under 100,000. Eiler shipped his whole stack over the line to declare an all-in. Malinovskiy did not like that one bit and asked for a count after a long deliberation. The Dealer told Malinovskiy it would be 70,000 more to call and after a long pause Malinovskiy folded.

Eiler now has ~160,700

Suharto Short, Then Gone

Darus Suharto was still knocking about despite his earlier crippling, but after some hours of grindage he has finally succumbed.

Just now he knocked out micro-stack Csaba Szasz - another chap who would do well in Scrabble - who went all in for 13,000 with {a-Clubs}{6-Hearts}. Suharto made the call with {k-Diamonds}{j-Spades} and proceeded to spike on the {7-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} board.

Even after that, though, Suharto's stack was still only at 45,000 and the normally cheery Team PokerStars Pro looked rather dejected. A few hands later he was all in against Mark Radoja's {a-}{k-}. We didn't see what Suharto had but he couldn't beat it, and it's game over for Mr. Suharto.
