If Team Pokerstars Pro Liv Boeree is going to retain her title then she is going to have to do it the hard way. We reported earlier that she was sharing the table with Alex Wice and at that time there were a lot of vacant places yet to be filled. Team Pokerstars Pro Lex Veldhuis has just filled the number two seat, young Italian hot shot Alessandro Speranza has sat in seat number ten and the World Champion Jonathan Duhamel has sat down in seat four.
Artem Khadaverdieu raised to 300 in early position and Liv Boeree, Jonathan Duhamel and the big blind all called.
Flop:
The action checked to Duhamel who bet 750 and only Khadaverdieu called the bet.
Turn:
Khadaverdieu led for 1,500 this time and Duhamel released his hand.
Jackson Genovesi opened to 300 from middle position and Team Pokerstars Pro Lex Veldhuis called behind. The flop was Genovesi bet 300 and Veldhuis raised to 1,200. Genovesi chuckled to himself before making the call.
Turn:
Genovesi checked to Veldhuis who bet 3,000 and Genovesi called.
River:
The action slowed right down to a check-check pace. Genovesi peeled over and Veldhuis mucked unseen.
Fatima Moreira de Melo has already doubled up after eliminating another player on a board. Her opponent must have been pretty confident with for kings full but de Melo flipped for rivered quads!
She's up to 40,000 already. This is how you win tournaments, make quads against the nut full house.
Vitalijs Zavorotnijs fired out 4,600 on the river of a after Liv Boeree checked and got a fairly quick call from last year's winner but the Latvian turned over for a full house.
I've yet to see a hand at show down that didn't involve at least once person holding a full house or better, the dealers are cold-decking everyone so far.
By the by, we saw a flurry of exits early in the day. Just 15 minutes or so into play we lost Liya Gerasimova. We didn't quite catch the action, but we got there in time to see Gerasimova getting up and leaving, looking rather unwell. Yavor Ninov was holding aces and the board looked raggy; we discovered afterwards that Gerasimova had been holding .
Elsewhere, we've already lost Team PokerStars Pro Leo Fernandez.
Ted Forrest and Dennis Bejedal just got all of their chips in the middle as early as Level 2.
Forrest:
Bejedal:
Board:
Forrest up to 60,100. Bejedal was still in the tournament though with around 20,000.
Table 26 is one of the best tables for the male media types to hang out because we have Evelyn Ng and Team Pokerstars Pro Sandra Naujoks sat right beside each other. For once though all eyes were off the two roses and instead were staring at a board full of chips.
Thomas Swensen had all of his dough in the middle holding and Silo Schifalacqua's number was the only thing left in his seat next to the busted .
Board:
Swensen has over 60,000 in chips.
Not only did Dennis Bejedal lose with kings to Ted Forrest's aces, he's now just put his knee entirely through his chair when he attempted to kneel on it.
"Don't bother bringing another one," the Swede said glumly, "I'll be gone soon." He has about 6,000 remaining.
